Recs for fanfiction and fanvids in the following gandoms: Dawson's Creek; Marvel Cinematic Universe; Sherlock; Sky High; The Sound of Music; Star Trek: Deep Space Nine; and Strike. (There's nothing from Yuletide 2019, but some stuff is from Yuletides past.)
Dawson’s Creek
don’t read the last page: afterplaidshirtdays (Joey/Pacey, season 3)
Have a wallow in Joey and Pacey sneaking around, making out, the passion that’s all new to Joey, while the banter and affection remain, speckled with angsty guilt (because Dawson’s Creek). Let the shipper in you squee at their being so right together. (The mistake in the summary is not repeated in the fic.)
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Six Cities That Are Not Budapest: igrockspock (post Avengers Assemble, somewhat jossed, Natasha, Clint)
Full of iight and shade, this fic about travel and grief has great insights into Natasha and their dynamic.
Sherlock
Coins Hit the Water: kadorienne (Molly/Sherlock, unrequited, season 3)
A gorgeous, tender vid about Molly’s feelings for Sherlock,
Sky High
Powers: seekingferret (gen, ensemble)
This vidlet is a joy. I enjoyed the focus on the teens' powers.
The Sound of Music
May Love Be Your Keeper: Spacecadet72 (Maria/Georg, family, post-movie)
This is fluff, but lovely fluff. I particularly liked how it captured Maria's thought patterns, her gratitude and love, and how she got through the wobble in self-confidence.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Ornament: Beatrice_Otter (gen, pre-series ficlet)
The story behind Kira Nerys's choice of hairstyle. Very well done.
Strike
Cosmic Interference: OzQueen (Cormoran/Robin, long, teen)
This ‘five times’ fic leans more on TV canon than book canon and contains no Lethal White spoilers. Great characterisation and lovely progression of their relationship.
"The nice thing about you, Robin, is that despite such overwhelming evidence to the contrary, you still choose to believe common sense will prevail." Strike ground his cigarette under the toe of his shoe.
