B99 5.7 Two Turkeys

E4 has stopped showing the episodes in double bills for now, which was discombobulating to find out. Fun enough episode, with Jake’s desperate desire for a big happy family Thanksgiving combining with all the parentals meeting. Presumably one or all of his three half-sisters will turn up, though we still haven’t met any of Santiago’s brothers. Meanwhile, Holt getting all investigative about the pie - where Hitchcock and Scully’s true genius lay - and finding out the truth about everyone’s Thanksgiving was also fun.

At the start of the week, before I went away (to be sleep deprived in a place where I had no internet access), I posted the following:

This is Not for You. Good Wives. PG. Josephine March, Professor Bhaer. 244 words. Modern day AU. Inspired by the prompt 'writing a book' at comment_fic. Summary: Jo March meets a critic at a literary festival.

The prompt is from November 2015 and I think I first drafted this then, so before the latest TV adaptation. The reason I hesitated to post it was that although the ‘literary fiction by men good, genre fiction by women bad’ school of thought makes me roll my eyes, in canon, I can see Professor Bhaer’s point (mainly because I have read some of Alcott’s more Gothic stuff and Little Women and the Six Cousins stuff are So. Much. Better). Also, I’m not one of those people who shipped Jo/Laurie, I’m fine with Jo/Friedrich and Laurie/Amy. But in the spirit of the ‘spring clean’ here it is.

Amaze The Mentalist. Universal. Teresa Lisbon/Patrick Jane. 398 words. Written for the prompt ‘Any, any female, she never usually wears dresses, so when she does, the effect is amazing’ at comment_fic.

The prompt is from April 2016, and the fill could well have been first drafted then, because of course it made me think about Lisbon. The beginning was always there, but I got them to the restaurant over the past week or so, while polishing it.

Atonement Gotham. Teen. Selina Kyle, Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne. 183 words. Summary: The first time she goes to the Batcave.
Author's Note: Written as futurefic during season 2. Might be jossed (as I haven’t seen beyond season 2.

So, I wrote this (more or less) in spring 2016 and sat waiting for the rest of it to come. (Ha!) The fact that E4 is airing Gotham and the whole ‘spring clean’ thing brought me back to it, and I realised that, although it’s a snippet, it conveys Selina’s feelings and why she’s acting as she is here.

There are more ficlets that I intend to post once I get back into the swing of things.
