Very funny, knowing and witty ficlet.
CSI/Lord of the Rings crossover
CSI goes Deep: arduinna (gen)
I enjoyed this fic a lot. The original Vegas CSI team (the rest playing off Grissom beautifully) with their modern frame of reference and rigorous approach investigate Moria, its dead and the weapons that killed them. Crossovers often have great premises but iffy execution, not here - it's all great.
Fairy Tales
Once Upon a Time in India: brigdh (12 dancing princesses in India AU, het)
This brings the Punjabi setting to vivid life, and the fairy tale translates beautifully, with smart adaptations, to the setting.
How To Steal A Million
I Can't Get Enough of You Baby: reparo74
Their eyes! Peter O'Toole's a piercing blue and Audrey Hepburn's a gorgeous brown. This vid should leave you with a desire to (re)watch the film forthwirth.
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Captain America
A Sight For Sore Eyes (The Eye of the Storm Remix): echoinautumn (Peggy/Steve)
Competent spy!Peggy in action, with some Peggy/Steve loveliness.
Avengers
Tentative: fairyknight (post-AoU Wanda-centric, Wanda/Vision, teen for action/violence, longish)
This gets satisfyingly into Wanda's headspace as she tries to be an Avenger on her terms, but has to contend with the team. I really liked the take on the attraction between Wanda and Vision here, how true it is to what we knew of them post AoU. A few typos, though.
Multifandom
Everything in its right place: DJC productions
Very cool synthesis of sci fi (ish) action movies.
NCIS: LA
Discovery: krazykitkat (Kensi/Deeks ER, team)
Four ways Kenzi and Deeks’s secret relationship could be discovered by team members - features strong characterisation and an excellent coda.
Once Upon a Time
In Between: Random Battlecry (Belle/Rumpelstiltskin, Regina 1.12 tag)
You feel for Belle and yet respect her strength. This fic is unsettling, discombobulating, lovely and rather wonderful.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
there is gold across the river: evewithanapple (Syrena/Philip)
Tells the story, and what happened next, from the mermaid POV, bringing in a more fairy-tale-ish feel that had grief and hope in it.
Pitch Perfect
Crescendo: SiennaSky (Beca/Jesse, long one-shot, M)
I really appreciated how this story developed, with unexpected twists and flowing writing, as Beca and Jesse grow up together, alone and together. I haven't seen a fic that delves into how Beca's lack of stability growing up had affected her so much. But at the same time, there are knowing, Hollywood moments to enjoy.
Push
roll the dice: vinylroad (Cassie/Nick, teen for language and violence)
Great job on Cassie and her developing partnership with Nick over the years and through three separations.
Pushing Daisies
This Love (Alive Back From The Dead): raven (Ned/Chuck)
Lovely vid that translates the wistfulness and energy of the song well (and reminded me of how simply beautiful this show was).
Tam Lin (book)
O Solitude!: clare_dragonfly (Janet/Thomas, a couple of years after the book’s end)
Believable and fitting continuation of the book, this slice-of-life gives us plenty of reason to have faith in Janet being able to continue on this path.
