There was something desperate and almost fun about this after all. Two people who didn't even quite like each other, certainly didn't trust each other, and who were trying to stay alive despite strenuous opposition plotting something like this.

I like this for its characterisation: Luna is perfect and Dean's point of view of the world is really believable. And it does the legwork that an uncanonical pairing (as it most definitely was at the point when it was written) needs to be believable.
