Veronica Mars: 3-3 Witchita Linebacker.

I am a little awed by Veronica's observational powers. I'm also wondering whether the gun on the wall defence is being manipulated, because does it count if the gun is on the mantlepiece in a picture? Sure, if you're watching in a way that means you can go back and watch a scene frame by frame. I mean, was the Dean's son's favourite band even real? In as much as I registered him, I thought Kiss/fancy dress. And I wasn't really registering him, because I was enjoying Cyrus O'Dell. Hurrah, a fitting replacement for Clements.

And Weevil is back - that's everyone apart from the Arrested Development duo. He's, um, got chunkier. But I was glad to see him, and at least there's some follow through for what happened to Thumper. The amount of anger management issues Weevil had as he probably broke the probation and spirit of his probation, he really should be suffering the consequences. But this is TV and we want him on air, not in prison, and it'll be fun to have him around, mixing things up, and it may bring some class dimensions back into Veronica's college life.

Oh, Veronica though. I get the why of the trust issues, though I was amused but shocked by the extremity of how they manifested - tracking your boyfriend's phone. Good grief! I had some sympathy for her - though like Logan pointed out, Dick's not the most reliable source - because of their history. I'm glad they're examining the actual likely conflicts in Veronica and Logan's relationship as a couple. I still think it's bound to implode, but I don't know whether it'll be a cycle either can break and they'll keep coming back. It's a more dysfunctional verson of a dynamic I like, and it's compelling (well, apart from Veronica getting her epiphany via the other girlfriend's Moment of Madness speech. Waaay too pat.) I feel it's too early for the break up yet, though. Oh, and the Mexico thing seemed to me to be a reference to season 1.

The opening up of college life is interesting - though the rag magazine versus the (militant) feminists was close to caricature. Good to have Piz around (not sure what I think of his likely intrustion into the Veronica/Logan dynamic mentioned above, though he seems undamaged, so a part of me wants him to run away now, cute, smart and funny boy). Obviously, I missed Mac (and in terms of the overall narrative structure, more Parker emotional fallout would have made sense) and Wallace. But the case was interesting enough - and I liked that they doubled back on the cleared artist ex (because I was guilty of assigning innocence thanks to the clock. Hy, it works with Bones and Numb3rs). I'm not even going to speculate as to the rapist's identity, even though we have presumably had enough clues.

Ha! Epguides talks about there nearly being a reference to FNL (the movie), I was thinking of the show and then shaking my head because it wouldn't have picked up enough steam, but I forgot about the movie and failed at properly appreciating the writers' mavenicity. This punctures my pride at getting quite a few of the popculture references quite a bit.

In other news, I have figured out that my Heroes debacle is because the channel was trying to be helpful (they repeated everything and messed up the usual schedule of repeating the new episode on Wednesday at nine). I don't want channels 'trying to be helpful'. I want them to stick to their usual schedule! And of course, tonight ITV4 is messing with Friday Night Lights again. They're showing a (normal) football match instead. This means waiting a week for the next episode (I checked. Although I didn't triple check. Hmm). Anyway, I've realised that I'm sulking about Heroes. If SciFi wants to 'try to be helpful' and provide catch ups again, I may relent, but right now, I'm digging my heels in until BBC2 get it. And after all, I probably wouldn't know if Skiffy were doing such a thing. I'm willing to ditch ER for a film I remembered from my youth or childhood, but not a new show that I like watching at nine rather than ten. Oh television, ours is a complicated (and probably unhealthy) relationship. But if you're going to purchase the rights to a long-running import with involved storylines, keep to your regular schedule!
