One day as I boarded a bus to the office, I saw a beggar. At a first glace, I quickly shut my eyes. I couldn’t stand the sight. When I found him still standing at the bus stop with a begging bowl, I observed him closely. He had, what looked like a major burn all over his chest and right shoulder. His skin was ruffled like a sheet and it had different colors like brown, dark brown and pale yellow. The burn looked so fresh and painful. I realized that the oil applied all over his body had done the trick. Actually his burn was healed. He had glamorized his burn so that he can get more alms. Otherwise I didn’t see any reason why he should beg and not work.
Come to think of it, how many times we glamorize our little problems. “Oh this project is the worst of all”, “oh this person is difficult to relate with”, “oh my situations are miserable”, “Oh don’t ask me how busy I am”, “Oh I am at knee level”, we glamorize our little problems, for what? Is to get away with, to impress or for the heck of it, for what? In that case we aren’t any different than the beggar.
