Well it all started in a similar manner to pretty much any other airline. Long queues at check in come with the territory. Everything went pretty much the same as any other airline until I got to the gate.
The Ryanair boarding method is possibly the least efficient ever. Only about two families with genuine young children existed, with most being easily capable of dealing with boarding along with everyone else. Then a free for all, which (and I'm reminded of a BA advert here) results in people dashing to the aircraft to get a decent seat. I managed to get a window seat in the end, even if it was over the wing. I like to have at least some idea of where the aircraft is going.
We were promptly delayed by 40 minutes by thunderstorms over Zurich. So we just had to sit there. Listening to the infuriating recorded messages for twenty until a flight attendant realised that we were being driven insane and turned them off. There are only so many times you can listen to them blowing their own trumpet before you go mad. And as for their "Super Premium Spirits" (that should ring alarm bells to start with) most quality brands of alcohol that I know of come in a bottle rather than a plastic bag.
The flight itself was pretty uneventful until the last 15 minutes, when we landed in a thunderstorm. Everyone held on to the seat in front of them to cope with the turbulance, which is the worst I've experienced in a commercial aircraft (but not really that much).
Of course I had forgotten my umbrella.
