Too many clothes shops!
The thing about Milan is that it is the fashion capital of the world. It is therefore profitable to open a clothes shop. In a similar manner to the planet with nothing but shoe shops in H2G2 shops which are not clothes shops die out. The result is that there isn't really much in Milan apart from the clothes shops. This causes problems if you don't like clothes shopping. Even finding a restaurant is difficult. I didn't buy any souveniers as it obviously isn't profitable to run a souvenier shop, given that everyone is of course buying clothes.
I became so bored that I ended up riding around on the metro just to do something. Then I went back to my hotel and read a book.
