I am being very, very good about not spamming about politics. I don't want to be That Kind Of Blogger, although I'm probably going to continue saying stuff about women's rights and GBLT politics. Does that even count as politics?
Anyway, voting and registration laws are confusing as hell, and this year, they are changing at warp speed.
Behold! A non-partisan information site!
Vote411.org! What are the rules in my state? What kind of ID do I need to bring? Can I vote early? Can I vote absentee? For lo, they know.
I know, I know. You're saying, "But Prof! I loathe politics! I don't want to vote! I'm not coming out of my cave until after November!"
OK, you don't have to, though if you live in California and you're in school, you might want to eyeball ballot measure 30.
But wouldn't you feel dumb if on Election Day, you bounced out of bed and said "by golly, I feel like exercising my constitutional right to vote! I'm going to do that, and then eat a health breakfast with lots of fiber, and then I will floss!" And then you drove all the way to the polling place, only it wasn't your polling place, and you didn't have the right kind of ID, and it turns out you weren't registered in the first place? Wouldn't you feel silly?
Seriously, check the rules, because in a lot of states, they won't accept a student ID anymore, and that is a big deal. I didn't learn how to drive until I was 24. I would have been screwed.
Go forth!
