Oh, yes, forgot to mention--

I did indeed install a Windows partition on my Mac and then all the EPs up to Free Time.  I have AL, but I haven't started playing with it yet because I want to get used to Free Time first.  This is the way it's always been for Mac users--nothing for months or years, then a flurry of EPs and SPs, probably to make us crazy and give us false hope ( Read more... )

I actually understand how you feel a little even though I play on a PC. I didn't pick up anything after Seasons for fear of SecuRom. Then I stopped playing. When I came back, I got it all at once. It's like being in a candy store. The one bad thing about playing an apocalypse first is that I don't have as much opportunity to try out everything.

Yet. 8D

Oooo! Jack, huh? He was one of my favorites. I could identify with him a bit, being the kid with "no talent." I'll be looking forward to your side story.

I'm allergic to everything except dogs and mold. I have cats. I have dust. I have blue grass. I have maple trees. I have everything that's around here. I hate these stupid spring sinus headaches. Hope the doc clears you right up!

The wonderful world of virus protection is one thing keeping me away from the partition--there were reasons why I wanted a Mac instead of a PC. *sigh*

And yay Elaine! I'm always happy to see updates with what she's doing. And of course I look forward to Jack!

Feel better soon!

I second these comments about virus protection, and also the only reason I'd get a partition would be to play Sims and buying all the EPs and stuff again is not something I can do in the foreseeable future. So, not for me (at least right now). But I am definitely happy you get to have the shinies! PICTURES.

Seems to be a bad pollen year all around; they're warning here about high pollen counts already and it's barely spring (though we did crest up to the low 80s this week). Time for me to swap antihistamines again.

If you do any web browsing on your PC partition, pick up a copy of the Malwarebytes. It's absolutely the best malware-removal software I've ever found, and their free version only leaves out the "live" protection. Spybot is also good (I use it primarily for the blocking of known malware transmission sites). Viruses are less of a problem, unless you're downloading executables regularly... I virus scan small executables with an online multiscanner, and use Windows Live for my full scans.

I second Malwarebytes. It's terrific. Plus, the few times the daughter actually has managed to get a Trojan (more likely for us than an actual virus) on her machine, we've always been referred to MalwareBytes by places like Major Geeks.

As a matter of course, I scan every file I DL twice, even from sites I'm comfortable with (MTS2). I run them through my virus scanner once (there are really good online ones, too) and then through MalwareBytes.
