"Alvarez! Ven aqui!"
Ay Dios mio. Here we go again. Sometimes I wonder why I work at this job. But always, without fail, I remember that the pay is decent, the work isn’t too hard, and the busboy isn’t all that that bad looking. In fact, he’s very pleasing to the eye. (Though for the life of me, even after a week I still don’t know his name!)
But I’m getting off topic here. The manager is a total ass. It’s a good thing he’s only here on Mondays and Wednesdays. If I had to deal with him every day, I think I’d snap and get fired. Which would NOT be a good thing at all. I’ve heard too many horror stories about college students who are up to their eyeballs in debt from loans and I REFUSE to be one of them. Besides, if mama or papa found out, I’d not only be in trouble but they’d try to take it upon themselves to help pay for it. Which is out of the question. I’m not going to let them pay for my mistakes...literally. Which is why I’m earning my spending money. Ugh, sometimes I envy Alfred, he was just able to pay his way into college. He probably hasn’t worked a day in his life. Well, except for that one thing junior year of high school, but that didn’t last long.

I guess it’s just best to suck it up and go see what’s wrong...It’ll just save a lot of crap to deal with in the future. Oh look, it’s that cute guy. He’s giving me a pitying look. I suppose I don’t blame him, I probably give him the same look when the manager puts him under fire. Thank god it’s Wednesday, after this I won’t have to see him until next Monday. Fabuloso.
Third-person sample: Leticia smiled to herself as she scrolled down the internet page that had her schedule on it. She only had classes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this quarter, and they were all in the late mornings and early afternoons. This would give her enough time to get back to her dorm, maybe study a little bit or do homework, and get ready in time for work. She hoped that there would be a lot of customers today. (Well, she hoped that everyday, but that was beside the point.) More customers meant more tips, which meant more money earned. Which was good. She considered herself rather lucky this quarter. She was able to enroll in all the classes she wanted (English and Math, to get her basic classes out of the way, and an art class for fun) and didn’t feel overwhelmed by them or her job.
First things first. Before classes started, she was going to explore. Leti didn’t want a repeat of freshman year of high school where she didn’t know where any of her classes were. She was late to every single one of her classes on the first day, save sixth period. And that was only because she happened to run into Alfred (ugh) in the halls and he directed her to her home economics class. So in light of that, she was going to take it upon herself to walk to each of her classes a few days before the quarter started so she wouldn’t be hopelessly lost on the first day. Besides, it would give her a chance to explore the Student Center and Library. She hoped the food in the dining hall was at least a little like the food she was used to at home. To be honest, she was feeling a little homesick. All her life she was surrounded by people. Her big family, her friends...well, she had a roommate and she knew Alfred, but it was different somehow. Oh well...she supposed she just might as well get used to it. She wasn’t a kid anymore.
