OOC Post: Hogwarts Virus Character Backgrounds
V:
No one knows where Prof. V came from, what he really looks like, or even what the 'V' stands for. All anyone knows for sure is that about five years ago, at the opening banquet, Dumbledore introduced him as one of the new Herbology professors. He is never seen without his mask on, and mysteriously never seems to eat anything. As a teacher, he's relatively serious but not overly strict, but he has an excellent radar for bullshit. Expect to deal with lots of deadly plants in his class.
Italy (Feliciano Vargas):
Italy is a pureblood Hufflepuff seventh-year (who, for the sake of confusion, will go by his human name). Outside of school, he lives with his (oddly rather young-looking) grandfather; if you ask about his parents, he will give you a blank, confused look. He's tried out for Quidditch every year since he arrived and fallen off his broom every single time. Not that it bothers him, he'll still cheer his team on as loudly as anyone during Quidditch matches. He's a kind of derpy student who wants to be friends with everyone, and doesn't really break any rules (at least not intentionally, anyway).
Blind Mag:
Mag is a half-blood seventh-year Ravenclaw student who probably could have just as easily ended up in Hufflepuff. She's fairly studious but not too overly serious about it; her favorite activity is being in the Hogwarts choir. Outside of school, she lives with her dad (her mom passed away when she was young).
Pegasus:
Pegasus is a pureblood from a wealthy family who managed to piss his parents off mightily when he went into Divination as a trade. For a while, he worked for a company manufacturing Tarot cards (yes, shut up, Pegasus will always work with cards), which became his main way of practicing Divination around others. When a slot opened for a Divination professor, he got it easily; even though he never claims to be a True Seer, he does seem to have a decent grasp on telling fortunes (probably because that gold eye of his can read your miiiiiind).
Jezebel:
Jezebel was the son of a Muggle woman having an affair with a married Pureblood wizard (because even in AU, he can't escape the fact that he's quite literally a bastard). Throughout his childhood, he had an odd fascination with poisons and other lethal liquids, and when he graduated Hogwarts he worked in Knockturn Alley, selling his wares on the black market. Eventually the Ministry caught him, and he spent a year in Azkaban before being released. Having decided he never ever wanted to go back to that place again, he grabbed the first semi-legitimate job he could find and went into teaching at Hogwarts. That never really stopped him from experimenting with dangerous liquids, mind, and there's all sorts of rumors that fly around about those odd jars of organs he keeps in his office...it's said that if you linger by the door to his office at night, you can hear him talk to them.
Eames:
Eames is a Metamorphmagus (read: someone who can change their appearance at will), a talent he learned to abuse at a very young age. After he graduated from school, he used it to become a very adept thief, pickpocketing and stealing from bank vaults without much fear of getting caught, since he changed his appearence for every attempt. He managed to make a nice career out of this for several years, until he made the mistake of trying to steal from Hogwarts castle. Dumbledore caught him almost immediately, and gave him a choice: he could either be arrested, or he could reform his ways and stay on at Hogwarts (where Dumbledore would be keeping an eye on him at all times). Eames chose the latter, and ended up teaching Transfiguration. He's given up his thieving ways, and is incredibly loyal to Dumbledore for giving him a second chance. He's also one of the more lax teachers, so take him if you want to go in for an easy A.
