The First Day of Work and The Secret Stash
Early morning was spent twiddling thumbs. The security pass, laptop and desk wasnt ready. So i just parked my ass on some colleague's chair since he was on leave while i waited for my boss, who would give me an induction for the rest of the morning. From the hour long session, she appears to have rather high expectations!
Lunched in town at Din Tai Fung with the boss and another colleague, after which we headed over to one of our retail stores to have a look-see etc.
Cabbed back to the office as the boss had other appointments. The colleague brought me on a tour around the office, introducing the various departments and people. Too many faces and names and titles - i promptly forgot them in the next minute lol.
There was an in-house gym that looked quite empty, maybe because it was during working hours. Only saw a gal running on the treadmill who seems potentially cute. I guess this warrants further investigation wahahaha!
Finished up the tour and the colleague briefed me on some of my duties. During the conversation, it came up that we're not getting desk phones because the company issued mobile was suppose to double up as the desk phone. Kinda weird. More importantly, this means i'm gonna lug 2 mobiles around unless i terminate my personal subscription which i'm extremely reluctant to since i heart this number lol. Not to mention the logistical nightmare in trying to inform everyone of my change of number. And no, i cant ask the company to subsidise my personal number instead for certain reasons.
Anyways a piece of good news is the boss will be away on biz travel for the whole of this week so i reckon my "honeymoon" period will be extended :P

While doing some spring cleaning, i found a red packet from my last company in 2006 that i all but forgot about it! It's like my very own treasure stash. Although, my financial planner probably wont be very pleased.
