An update from PDX

Got to Alex. Was tired. Slept on plane.

Trucked through Houston-Intercontinental, got to gate. Waited. Got on plane. Got hit on (and actually realized *at the time* that I was being hit on) by my seatmate. Lovely. Slept. Woke up over the Great Salt Lake.

Arrived in Portland!

Found Jessie and Erin with no problems. Thanked God that I packed light for the first time, oh, ever.

Went out to Tualatin, attended picnic with Cassi (SO lovely to see Cassi), went to REI (sweet, sweet REI...there's not a single REI in the state of Louisiana...I checked...), went downtown, got tired, hopped a bus to SW Portland.

God, but I *do* love the #12 bus. Craziness. Such fun.

Made it up to campus, almost cried because of the loveliness of it all. Saw a little bit of the baccaulaureate ceremony, wandered a little bit, visited a few people I worked with, ran into Dave and Tiffani, went to dinner with Dave and Tiffani, along with Ashley, David, Kate and Jeremy at a Thai (!!!!!) restuarant.

Came back to campus. Chilled out. Visited with Brian Federico (not just Brian, but Brian Federico!), and met Diana's out-of-town people. Was REGALED with stories from res life at LC over the last year. SUCH fun! Watched a little of The Breakfast Club, then realized I was exhausted and went to bed shortly after midnight.

Graduation today was lovely. Magnificent weather, once again. I looked like quite the Southern Belle if I do say so myself. It was just awesome--and a little surreal--to see so many people. A lot of people from the class of '03 came back for graduation. Fun times. Hung out for a few hours after the ceremony, then went to lunch at a restuarant down by the river, and went to the mall afterwards. (Ah, commerce!) I currently smell like a lotion store exploded on my hands and arms. (Thank you, aromatherapy section at Bath & Body Works.)

And now I'm here. In an on-campus apartment, hooked up to the glorious ethernet. Bless the T1 connection.

Going downtown to a graduation party later on, but right now we're just sitting around talking about the evils of moving, the joys of growing older, and what we're eating for dinner tonight.

Important stuff, y'know.

Oh, and my accent has been made fun of ad nauseum. But hey, at least I have exorcised (for the most part) the Chicago accent demon. Ick.

Alright. I'm off. Lord, but 6:30 AM is going to come quick. I'll be back in Nack-a-trash around 6 PM, all things going as planned. But I'm flying through Houston, so we'll just see how things go.

Can I just say how much I'm enjoying life right now? I really am. Good friends, beautiful location. It doesn't really get much better than this.

That said, I've been thinking--and talking--about my girls and LSMSA all weekend. It's surprising to find how very attached I am to that place.

Tja. Catch y'all later.
