My (not so fat) sacks of cash.

My chem class let out at noon today so that we might spend the afternoon reading the large packet of materials the professor had for us. So I actually had an opportunity to drop by the Financial Services office to have a chat with one of their helpful people about why all my monies were evaporating. I don't like evaporating monies.

It turns out that the summer monies evaporated because I'm only here "For the first summer session," and so they eliminated the money that was going to "pay my living expenses" for the second summer session. While I'm amazed that they think I can feed and house myself for half the summer on $200, I'm just going to sigh and be glad that's all they took back.

The $1,300 they took back from next year's monies is gone thanks to the Texas Legislature. Apparently, Texas doesn't like Edumacation. They're currently proving this by being 50th in the States in funding all levels of education. It just got bad enough that they caught up to me; they cut grants to all non-residents. The helpful people at the desk did let me know that I can make up for it in unsubsidized Federal loans though, if it comes to that. Goodie.

It doesn't bring the money back, but it is oddly comforting to know where it went. And I picked up six extra hours at the library this week, so maybe I'll be able to afford the gas to Mississippi after all. If, you know, there isn't an oil crisis or something before July. I think I'm going to make it this summer, even if it is by the skin of my teeth.
