Buying food
Very shortly, the food buyer for my co-op is jaunting off to be a draper for a Shakespeare company in Utah. This happens. She asked me to be temporary food buyer for the last two weeks of the semester. I got the low-down on how it's done tonight. Memorable phrases included "For produce, you call Bubba." and "the phone at Longhorn Meats is usually answered by Daisy. She's very cheerful." Hopefully I can do this while taking care of finals and not die or leave my co-op to starve.
I've been assured that Daisy and Bubba are both very helpful, true local Texan individuals, which supposedly makes up for the fact that Sysco, our drygoods supplier, is a soulless magacorp. Goodie.
