Obligatory:
The Front Fell Off April 16, 2010: The
facade of 335 Yonge Street collapsed, raining bricks onto the street, causing general panic, and more critically, forcing the excellent
Salad King Thai restaurant to close.
Early July, 2010: I'm having difficulty finding a definitive source, but it looks like the building's owner applied for a demolition permit on July 2, which was denied: [

July 27, 2010:
Notice is given of intent to designate 335 Yonge as a heritage property, meaning that
demolition would have to be approved by the City Council.
January 2, 2010:
A six-alarm fire destroyed 335 Yonge Street (better images
here), involving 32 fire trucks and 125 fire fighters, two of whom were injured when they fell off a roof into the burning building. The article in The Star quotes Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam as stating that a meeting to discuss restoration plans with the building's owners had been set for January 10th, but that after the fire she no longer believes the building can be saved.
Interesting timing.
The new Salad King location was not affected by the fire.
