D.Gray-man 171

So, it appears that most of the Black Order don't know that Cross Marian is "missing with a high possibility of dead." The conversation between Lavi and Bookman make that quite clear. (And that was an interesting conversation indeed. "There is a hidden side to this war," Cross said. Bookman certainly seems to agree. An interesting note that probably wouldn't make it over in the English translation: that entire conversation is written in a different font, and horizontally. Horizontally-written dialogue is typically indicative of characters speaking in English - but, of course, since technically the story takes place in England, I suppose that should be altered to "some other language." Either way, it's very clear that it was a private conversation... and quite deliberately being kept that way.

Interesting...

Ruberie accusing Allen was not unexpected, although I admit that the possibility had not occurred to me for some reason. (Probably because all the indications are that Allen was with Linalee and Johnny.) But the fact that he actually wasn't all that serious about the accusation - now that was a surprise.

...and the fact that his response to stress is apparently to bake a cake... heh. Such an utterly D.Gray-man-esque little touch, that.

Allen's counter-accusation - I admit, I would not have expected that of him. And Ruberie's reaction is actually quite surprising. As well as the fact that Hoshino-sensei did not leave us hanging, but actually showed us his response: no, in fact, he did not do it. But he definitely thinks that someone from Headquarters did, and he finds that highly suspicious. @_@

The plot is now officially curdling.

As for the little aside into the trials and travails of the scientists... cute. Very cute. And I have to admit, I didn't even recognize Linalee for a minute there. -_-; Character appearances have undergone some drastic changes since the series started.
