So I was watching the Food Network and they were talking about Dine Out for America, which is an event that is taking place nation wide on October 5th. What it is is a whole bunch of restaurants that have signed up to donate either a portion or all of their proceeds for that day to Katrina and Rita relief. Since most people eat out at some point anyways, may as well eat out for a good cause. The web site is www.dineforamerica.org and there is a list of all the restaurants participating. They have it broken down by state and then city so its really easy to find a restaurant near you that is donating their proceeds to this cause. The organization was formed in 2001 to raise money for Sept. 11th victims and they raised over $20 million. Just think how much more can be raised this time around since more restaurants and people in general are aware of the organization. Please eat out on the 5th. If you're a bit skeptical about where the proceeds will go there's lotsa info on the web site. And tell your friends and family and even random people on the street to go have a good time and indirectly give to an important cause.
