The Seeker's Journal: Prophecy and Destiny
I've just rejoined legendland, and this battle they're doing a series of episode rewatch activities. You can make icons, gifs, write fanfiction etc, based on the episode assigned for that challenge. I'm choosing to do a live blog review/recap/reaction post for this week, and it's probably what I'll do for the next assignments as well.

But now I'm seeing a lot of parallels with Darken Rahl, and I think I want to explore that. How interesting it is, that every time Richard has a brother, he seems to be loved more, or at least the brother feels that way. I actually wrote Michael fic for this challenge and the parallels hit home for me while doing so. [Even more so than when I wrote Family Tree about Richard and his put upon siblings]. But Riona and I seem to be the only ones who write Michael fic. It's very depressing to hit AO3 and have the character filter only return your own works. And a bit creepy somehow. So I'm up for a Michael appreciation post, or fic or whatever :D

Michael also features heavily in Family Tree: http://meridian-rose.livejournal.com/145618.html ; I do mention him in most pre-series fics because this first brotherly relationship seems ripe for exploration, especially when you consider how it compares and contrasts with Darken as brother.

And, OMG that scene where Richard and Kahlan kill an entire battalion as they rush through the Boundary is just so epic, and the lighting is absolutely perfect :D
Lisa and I feel the lack of Michael love. I'm intrigued by the idea of Michael/Kahlan, actually; I'll have to think about that some more.
I think Dennee is kind of neglected, too; mostly one sees her in C/K fics as a source of tension between them, but she's a compelling character in her own right.
Still, my absolute favorite bit from the pilot, as I said in my recap, is the bit at the end where the soldier reports that the Seeker et al have crossed the Boundary, and Darken says, "It seems the Seeker and I are on an even footing," and the soldier is like, but my lord, you have all these loyal troops, etc, etc, and Darken just looks at him ;D

YES FEEL THE MICHAEL/KAHLAN LOVE. WRITE ME SOME FIC. And you know, this is weird - we've discussed in the past how I just generally don't like fic/pairings centered on Kahlan, and yet I find myself frothing over Michael/Kahlan.
I agree Dennee is neglected, and after The Last Commandments Stand I'm suddenly a lot more interested in her. I just. That first actress man, I don't know what it is, but I just hate her face. Like I don't think she's ugly, I just see her face and I'm like Nooooooooooooo.
Ooooh yes, Darken/CP does have some very eloquent looks. XD

Awww, you know I forgot about Chase's family, and his daughter asking R/K if they were married.
lol this line always annoyed me. Presumably Richard knows Chase's family pretty well, the kid would know Richard doesn't even have a girlfriend, right? I mean. I got the impression they were close. IDK IT'S NITPICKING I KNOW.
I actually really love the pilot. It starts out so amazingly, there's the exciting horse chase, big epic action drama that is shot so beautifully and scenery is gorgeous and there's lots of cleavage, then we cut straight to a loving tribute to Craig Horner's abs. XD it's such a good summary of what the show is. Pretty action, pretty people.
I'm with you on loving like everything about the show. It's just so well-made. The people who put this together obviously know their craft and their genre to perfection. And it's kind of amazing because imo the source material sucks balls. So that they made it into this wonderful show is really

I always took that as the kid just being an asshole. The actress looks young enough that she could be 6-8, and kids that age often ask stuff like that just because they know they can get away with it, the little shits. When I taught preschool, obviously the kids knew me because I was their teacher, but whenever an opportunity like that arose, they would ask questions like that. Like my husband brought me lunch one day when they were supposed to be napping, and one little girl sat up and like stage whispered "IS THAT YOUR BOYFRIEND? DO YOU KISS HIM?" and then the whole class giggled and naptime was shot all to hell.
And yes, the show is just so well made, especially given the source material, lol. But you know my opinion on that, we've talked about it often enough. XD

I don't like S1 Dennee either! Something about her face, I dunno. Come to think of it, I don't like Dennee 2.0 that much either but she was more tolerable on the eyes ;)
Yeah, that fight scene at the end sealed it for me. That's when I started marathoning the rest of the eps. Which was only this past November, but going back to the beginning still feels like it was longer. I really hate that it ended after 2 seasons.

This past November?! Awesome! It's so great to know that we're still getting new fans, after all this time!
I'm of two minds about it ending: On the one hand, I really wish it had continued, but on the other so many great things came out of the Save Our Seeker movement that really changed my life, I don't know if I would change it. Ideally I guess I wish that it had been threatened with cancellation so that Save Our Seeker still happened, but that we actually won that battle and got a S3, at the very least.

I'm wondering about an AU in which Kahlan confessed Richard the first time she saw him
LOL, thanks for passing that buck to me. I've actually thought about this scenario before, but ultimately decided against it, because I feel like Richard is just plain immune, even at that point. I believe that each Seeker is inherently immune to their Confessor's touch, but it's a fact that is not passed down because the immunity is hinged upon ignorance (I'm influenced by book canon on this).
What would be interesting, however, is if Kahlan tried to confess Richard at that point, but he's immune. Think of THOSE repercussions ( ... )

And oh, that is really really interesting, if she tried to confess him and couldn't. But that raises some metaphysical questions: Is the Seeker naturally immune to a specific Confessor fated to be his love, or just the first Confessor he meets? Obviously he's not naturally immune to all of them, because of Annabelle being able to confess Richard - but say, it was Dennee (Or Serena >_>) who made it to the Boundary. Would he then have been immune to them, or is it just Kahlan because she's his fated love, but for whatever reason there's a hiccup in destiny, and she's not the one that ends up being his Confessor?
