Trelawney!

Jul 16, 2005 12:44

I went to the Book 6 Midnight Release Party as Professor Trelawney.

In my full glory:

Mom had the brilliant idea to dress up as Trelawney over dinner. I had been trying to decide between my (rather weak) Percy and Mary Sue costumes. We threw everything together in under an hour! Nearly everything was my mom's, except the top, which was my River dress, and one of the shawls, which I wore as Aldonza. The rings were from my age-12 jewelry collection, and the glasses used to be my dad's. Good lord, did people actually wear those things? They're huge! *mocks the 80s* The lenses were so thick that I was afraid I'd hurt my eyes, so I took them off or wore them at half-mast on my nose when I wasn't being photographed or hamming for the kids.

At 11:15, they staged a costume contest. There are no words to adequately describe these kids' cuteness. I ended up winning first place, the prize for which was the coveted First Spot in Line, but because I didn't want to take the award away from the kids, I gave it to an utterly adorable pair of siblings dressed as Harry and Ginny. Though I originally was given ticket #239 when I came in, the manager gave me ticket #4. Huzzah!

And now, back to reading the book! *zooms*
