Ok, I really need to update on things. I lasted 3 days at that "perfect job". On my second day, I found out that we don't get paid hourly except for the first couple weeks while we're training. After that it's all commission. We keep half of what we fundraise (which I feel guilty taking half of the money people think they're giving to a good cause anyhow...) They forgot to mention that when they offered me the job. And if you don't make $375 a week or more in commission, you're let go. Also, we walk around alone in these neighborhood with only whatever food and water we can carry for 5 hours. It's hot too. And walking for 5 hours straight everyday is exhausting. I would get home at 11pm and fall asleep and not wake up till 11am and still be really tired and sore and hungry, but then I would have to rush through some housework and homework and then be back at work by 2. The drive was 30 minutes each way as well. And the topic changes a lot so you have to relearn everything and that was really confusing for me to try to memorize a whole new speech. Plus we went to a crappy neighborhood on my last day and I got bitched out by this lady and I just stood there while she yelled at me and called me dumb before I remembered I could walk away. Ugh! I think I was in shock. People are insane. The final straw was me realizing I was getting behind in my classes and getting some surprise extra homework 2 hours before I had to be at work last Friday. I called and said I couldn't come in because of homework and they tried to make me feel guilty. I decided I didn't really have time for a job like that anyhow and that I'd find something part-time and closer instead and I quit.
The apartment is ok I guess. Kids walk past our back porch all day coming to and from the playground though, so I can't enjoy it and I was really looking forward to spending time on it :( And we get bugs in here like crazy because of all the ground turning they do I guess, which is annoying. I'm sick of spiders and beetles! And the carpet is way too light colored for an apartment so I have to vacuum a lot. I'll live. It looks like I'll be home the last week of July now instead of August.
Did I never update about Justin's cousin's wedding weekend before last? Wow... I thought I did... We drove up to Ft Wayne Saturday morning to check on our old apartment and turn in the keys since our lease was up on the 30th.
Backstory: *We had left our not on the lease roommate there since he had classes through the 22nd. He was to make sure things were clean, patch the walls with any holes since he put up a dartboard one day without asking first, and turn in our remote to comcast for us since we hadn't found it until right before we moved and he said he'd take it in for us so they wouldn't charge us. We called him several times the week or two before to see if we needed to come up early to take care of anything, but he only texted justin back once to say he had moved all his stuff out. When we moved out, I left some dishes and pans and stuff I was just going to take to goodwill and we left perishables we thought he would want in the fridge and freezer for him. He said that was fine and thanked us and we left.*
We walk in the apartment and only one wall is patched and there is plaster on the carpet. None of the carpet is vacuumed or cleaned like he originally offered. the other 2 walls still have lots of holes. The kitchen cabinets are full of all the stuff I offered to give him. The fridge is full of food he bought and didn't bother to throw out before her left. The kitchen floor is dirty. The counters and stove are dirty. The sink has white powder all over it and sponges in it. The dishwasher has stuff in it. The porch has cans and a tarp and a planter and candle of his on it. His bedroom carpet is not vacuumed and there are a couple of things left in there and some trash. Our bedroom has a giant hook in the middle of our ceiling. His bathroom has toothpaste stains all over the counters and sinks. His shower and bath are dirty and so is the toliet. His floor needs sweeping too. And we're are on our way to a wedding that is 5 hours away and starts at 3. And we have nothing to clean the apartment with and no trashbags to take care of the shit he left behind and there is no sign of the remote (hopefully this means he turned it in) or his apartment key. We feel awful about it, but have to just leave everything like it is and turn in our keys and wait for the bill. We call our old roommate repeatedly with no answer. We leave him messages. We are still leaving him messages. He won't return our calls. We have his dad's phone number. Keep in mind that Justin has known his parents and sister since middle school. Justin left one final message for Mike last night when we were informed by comcast that the remote was never turned in so we must pay rental fees every month until they get it back. He used a lot of expletives but it went something like "You need to just do the right thing now. Where is the remote? We have to keep paying for it until they get it back so just send it to us or turn it in or something. You can either call me back or I'm calling your dad. If I call your dad, he will find out about everything you've done. This includes any drug use or drinking you've done in our apartment. I highly recommend you stop being a little sh*t and just call us back unless you want to explain all your constant pot smoking and drinking parties you had while we weren't there to your parents." Ugh.
