It was too early in the day for The Bondi to be open to the general public, but Luke sat at the bar nursing a glass of Coke and watched the only other occupant in the room up on the stage. Musical hands wrapped securely around the microphone, eyes closed and just a perfect, smooth voice emanating throughout the bar. Luke knew the tune, but mostly made famous by Better Midler. Lachlan's male voice made it his own, the lyrics of The Rose clearly affecting him as he gave it his all, shown only by a single tear that dripped down his cheek and was caught in the bright stage lights.
