"Psychic powers called Riley Browne, darling," Pat laughed, rubbing Lachlan's back and breaking apart from embrace. He squeezed his friend's arms. "What's a quick round-trip home between friends? I don't think New York will miss us for a couple of nights." To his left, Aiden was being accosted by a bunch of the lassies from their group and looking slightly shellshocked at the fact. Lou and Kerry, both married since the groups' partying days, had Aiden's hand and were gushing over his wedding ring and another friend, Georgia, was giving him an excited hug and bouncing up and down. They were all old friends of both Lachlan and Pat, so Pat's marriage had definitely been big news in the group, though no one - until now - knew anything about Aiden.
Pat himself had to soon relinquish his own hand so the wedding rings could be compared, but his attention was on Lachlan. "You doing okay, buddy? This is huge. I know it must be a lot to absorb."
Lachlan plucked a twenty pound note from the breast pocket of his shirt and waved it in front of Aiden's face. "Go buy a round, buddy!" he said, hoping to save the poor bastard from the female onslaught. For a gay guy, though, Pat's husband seemed to be charming the lassies. Like Pat, he seemed to have a way with chicks, so long as he didn't have to fuck them. The thing was, everyone always used to pull the piss that if Pat ever hooked up in the forever thing, he would bag a hottie... and he did, if the way the girls were drooling over Aiden was anything to go buy. "See, if you werenae so loveable, buddy, they'd be trying to convert your other half by now," he joked.
He nodded, pressing his lips together. "Aye, it was a wee bit nerve-wracking to start with. But I just dealt and it's been great. I can trust everywhere here, so I guess that makes the difference. What about you? How are you feeling? You're nay looking too bad. Better than when you left the christening."
Pat scrunched his nose up with a smirk. "I suck cock too well for him to convert, darling," he said as someone handed him a drink in passing. He held it up in a toast and used his other hand to flick the back of Lachlan's kilt up. He started moving to the music. "You owe me a dance or ten, does that answer your question? So long as I'm still standing, I'm fine. And until I'm not, I'm enjoying every minute of tonight. No worrying."
Another of their friends came up and hugged Pat from behind. He caught her arm around his waist and started dancing with her in time to the beat of the song, then kissed her cheek as he released her hold and she moved back into the crowd. "Old times, Lachie. Forget the shit of the last two years and just let your hair down. I know I'm going to."
Lachlan didn't bat an eyelid at the kilt. Just about everyone in the room had seen his arse at some point or another and for a range of different reasons. He had to laugh and shake his head. "I just cannae believe you're fecking here!" he said, looking Pat over to see if the words matched the physical presentation. Pat was immaculately and fashionable dressed for a night out dancing, just like he would ever weekend in the past. His eyes weren't dull and he was automatically moving to the music. "Are you sure you're okay to be here? What about Cam? How's he doing? Two seven hour flights in two days, you're going to be half dead when you get back."
Tara watched as Pat managed to drag her husband onto the dancefloor. It was definitely like old times, though this whole scene here was new to her. She hadn't been part of this life of Lachlan's, and that was how it was supposed to be. It was wonderful to experience it all now and even more wonderful to see him take the stage without a care in the world. Pat arriving with Aiden had been a brilliant surprise, but completely unexpected.
She wove her way throught he crowd to where Riley was leaning over the bar, waving his hand as he spoke to the barman about something. She snaked her arm around his waist and kissed his cheek. "Did you pull this off, oh Godfather of my offspring, you?" she teased.

Riley turned his head and pressed an affectionate kiss to her lips. "I plead the Fifth!" he said, laughing and stubbing his cigarette out in the ashtray. He waved the bartender over. "Vodka and Irn Bru for the lovely lassie, Keith."
He draped his arm around her shoulders and gave her a squeeze. "Our boy talk the other day, I realised a few things with him I was probably overlooking a wee bit. He needed tonight. He needed something to remind him of the past because even though this is his home and he yearns deeply for it, he's blocking parts of his past because he's worried about the future. I knew having Pat here would help that. Pat should be here. So, when I called to see how he and Cameron were doing, I got Aiden who told me Pat was doing well after a couple of days rest. He took over from there, and then went on to arrange for Emma to come along with them."
Josh was dripping with sweat, and as he lit his tenth cigarette, he didn't really care. He was careful to stay out of Tara's way while he was smoking, but he was sure she could still smell it on him, even with the scent of sweaty drummer, and alcohol he was drowning in.
God, he'd missed playing. He'd missed drumming for Lachlan especially, tonight driving home the fact that he had been playing with talentless pricks since. In Princeton he had yet to find a gig, but if Lachlan and Tab ever wanted him, he was theirs. Riley's sister had a pair of fucking grade A lungs on her, not to mention it wasn't so bad sitting behind her when she was wearing that leather mini.
Not that he'd tell Riley, or Luke. He was firmly keeping that opinion to himself. Even if all it did was remind him how much he was actually missing Emma, and how much he wished he'd asked her out before they'd left for Scotland. He looked down at his mobile, and toyed with the idea of risking an international call as he exhaled smoke in a slow breath.

Emma was unable to help grinning. She had been hovering at the back of the pub, having arrived with Pat and Aiden, drinking in every single inch of the scene. She was already hooked. Riley had been golden in his planning, wanting to surprise his wife by flying Emma out for the last couple of days of their Scotland trip. Emma was excited, and accompanied Pat and Aiden on the flight over. She immediately loved both men, hitting it off with them like she had known them for years. And now to be here was fantastic. The bonus prize was seeing Josh in action, and oh what a bonus.
She wove quickly through the crowd and crept up behind him, planting her hands over his eyes. "Guess who," she growled, disguising her voice. This was going to be a test for him, to say the least.
"Erm..." Josh stood there, smoke dangling from his lips as he tried to search his brain for who it could be. Was it some girl he'd shagged before he'd gone, and now she was going to try and hook up again? He remembered the standard of lass in Edinburgh before he'd left, and he was really hoping that wasn't the case.
He sucked in a breath, an itch on his stomach making him go for the long shot since he didn't really have much else to lose. "I'm really hoping for a hot little paramedic, but I might be able to have my balls kicked for mistaken identity. Also, it'd save me calling her. Much easier to kiss her in person."

Emma's eyebrows rose at the comment and she smirked, keeping her warm hands over his eyes. Behind Josh at the bar, Aiden was watching her in amusement. On the plane, he had somehow managed to pick up in the fact Emma might've taken a bit of a liking to the drummer, and then Pat jumped right on the bandwagon too. Emma had just blushed and tried to deny it, but these were gay guys. They had some sort of sixth sense to chemistry, maybe? Chemistry and fashion.
"And why didn't you call her before now, hmm?" she asked, keeping her voice even.

Lachlan always knew he risked his chances putting out requests to all his mates. When he did this in the past, he used to get anything from Weird Al Yankovic to Britney Spears. But it was always a good laugh. First off the bat, though, his cheeky wife through a request at him that was definitely a curve ball. 'Boys of the Summer' was a classic song, but the original version by Don Henley wasn't really to Lachlan's taste. The cover by The Ataris was more on par, so Lachlan took that and rocked it up even more, belting it out and getting about the whole pub up dancing to it. He flicked his hand a little so the guy controlling the lighting at the back lifted the main lights out of his stage, giving him a better view of everyone. He was thriving of it. He missed this like crazy. Riley had Evie up dancing, Tara was dancing with Emma, Pat and Aiden were plastered together enjoying the dancing, all their other friends surrounding them. It was fantastic

Tab was loving every second. In fact, she was leaning towards loving this place more than New York, and that was saying something. She loved the music scene in NYC, but this was different, and she suspected it had to do with the energy in the room. It was like watching Lachlan come home, and suddenly finding herself a part of it.
She was covered in sweat just like the boys, her energy being thrown into the set to make sure she didn't ruin the gig. Now that the song ended she was downing yet another bottle of water and shot Luke a look that clearly spoke about what would happen later. Then she turned to find Lachlan glancing around and raised her eyebrows in silent question, trying to work out who he was after. She moved back through the crowd and put her hand on his arm. "Lost Tara?"

Lachlan recapped his empty bottle with a smile and shook his head. "Nay, she's sharing the attentions of your Part II with her BFF," he said, waving his hand in the general direction of where Riley was dancing with both Evie and Tara. "Only Riley could be married and still score two lassies on the dance floor," he joked.
"I was looking for you, actually." He pointed his thumb behind him. "My keyboardist is contemplating a move to the States, too. To New York."
Re: Lachlan [OTA but tag Tab]asinthecityMay 23 2009, 01:37:51 UTC
Tab glanced over in Riley's direction and smirked. Yeah, only her brother could do that. And he still doubted his ability to pull. Her gaze went back to Lachlan, and her eyebrows rose up. "Really? Hey, you're getting quite the collection. Pretty soon everyone you've ever known will be in the States."
