Lachlan [OTA but tag Tab]drcampbellMay 22 2009, 13:41:57 UTC
Lachlan always knew he risked his chances putting out requests to all his mates. When he did this in the past, he used to get anything from Weird Al Yankovic to Britney Spears. But it was always a good laugh. First off the bat, though, his cheeky wife through a request at him that was definitely a curve ball. 'Boys of the Summer' was a classic song, but the original version by Don Henley wasn't really to Lachlan's taste. The cover by The Ataris was more on par, so Lachlan took that and rocked it up even more, belting it out and getting about the whole pub up dancing to it. He flicked his hand a little so the guy controlling the lighting at the back lifted the main lights out of his stage, giving him a better view of everyone. He was thriving of it. He missed this like crazy. Riley had Evie up dancing, Tara was dancing with Emma, Pat and Aiden were plastered together enjoying the dancing, all their other friends surrounding them. It was fantastic.
His fingers skated over the strings as they reached the bridge and he turned to look at Tab, and then Josh. They had fallen into the beat with him from the first chord like they were just made to play together. Sweat was soaking Lachlan's shirt and causing it to stick to his torso, but he hardly noticed. It was hard for him to believe he had lost his music mojo after the shooting because this just felt like it had never gone. When the song ended, everyone was cheering, but Lachlan released his guitar and held his hands up in surrender. He needed a break before he fell over. The music was taken over by the stero system, and everyone kept dancing. Lachlan picked up his bottle of water and downed the whole thing in one go, eyes looking around in hopes to spot Tab and catch her for a wee word.

Tab was loving every second. In fact, she was leaning towards loving this place more than New York, and that was saying something. She loved the music scene in NYC, but this was different, and she suspected it had to do with the energy in the room. It was like watching Lachlan come home, and suddenly finding herself a part of it.
She was covered in sweat just like the boys, her energy being thrown into the set to make sure she didn't ruin the gig. Now that the song ended she was downing yet another bottle of water and shot Luke a look that clearly spoke about what would happen later. Then she turned to find Lachlan glancing around and raised her eyebrows in silent question, trying to work out who he was after. She moved back through the crowd and put her hand on his arm. "Lost Tara?"

Lachlan recapped his empty bottle with a smile and shook his head. "Nay, she's sharing the attentions of your Part II with her BFF," he said, waving his hand in the general direction of where Riley was dancing with both Evie and Tara. "Only Riley could be married and still score two lassies on the dance floor," he joked.
"I was looking for you, actually." He pointed his thumb behind him. "My keyboardist is contemplating a move to the States, too. To New York."

Tab glanced over in Riley's direction and smirked. Yeah, only her brother could do that. And he still doubted his ability to pull. Her gaze went back to Lachlan, and her eyebrows rose up. "Really? Hey, you're getting quite the collection. Pretty soon everyone you've ever known will be in the States."

Lachlan pushed his hand through his damp hair and then tugged at the front of his sweaty t-shirt, trying to cool himself off. "Aye," he agreed with a laugh. "Only, more like just my band. Riley's technically already a native and Pat was there years before I was... which is irrelevant to my point."
He reached over and tipped the mic down so no one would knock it accidentally in passing, and then switched it off. "I have a proposition for you, only, it kinda has to come with some fine print on account of the fact I'm still a bit screwed in the head."

Tab frowned, and rubbed his arm affectionately. "Hey, you're hardly talking to someone who's completely sane. You do remember who I am, right? Although I'm still a little concerned about what the proposition actually is."
Re: Lachlan [OTA but tag Tab]drcampbellMay 23 2009, 02:13:30 UTC
Lachlan shook his head. "Hey, dinnae be worried. And dinnae feel obligated, either. I'm adrenaline fueled and will probably want to curl up and hide from the idea once I get back to Princeton. Figured if I spread it out there quick enough, people will help remind me why I considered it in the first place."
"Even now, it's waning," he realised, eyes trailing over the top of the crowd. He cleared his throat and rubbed a little at his side. "I was thinking of reforming the band, basing in Princeton at your new bar, only playing both venues and with you and Keiran joining us. The fine print mostly revolves around the bairn, of course. He has to come first, especially if he's ill."
Re: Lachlan [OTA but tag Tab]asinthecityMay 23 2009, 02:25:35 UTC
Tab waited for him to spit out the idea, realising that he and her brother actually shared a lot of similarities. They weren't always so quick to say what was on their mind.
Her grin said it all though, and so did the way she started to bounce on her feet. "Really? Seriously? Us all in a band? That would be fucking awesome, Lachlan! Better than awesome. And don't worry about your kid, I know he comes first. He is my god-nephew. And, not to be a bitch, but there will be two vocalists. If you can't play, unless it's some seriously important gig... we could do it without you. Just when we have to. Otherwise, we'll wait for you, Lachlan."
Re: Lachlan [OTA but tag Tab]drcampbellMay 23 2009, 02:34:37 UTC
Lachlan waved his hand, laughing. "No, no. That's actually exactly what I was thinking. I wouldnae even be contemplating it without you. And it would be a straight to the line equal thing. Sets together, and individual sets. It'll mean we can pace ourself. I'm going to hit Aiden up to be our publicist. But that's the thing. I know if I cannae make it at times, I can totally and wholeheartedly rely on you to take the reigns, and I think that's a big thing for me because sometimes, I just willnae be able to. The screwed head thing. I've got a lot to work through, but I know I willnae ever get over it if I dinnae face it. And, well, probably nay something I really need to warn you about, but I operate pretty unconventionally when it comes to my music. It's probably why I've always mostly stuck to one band. They arenae really surprised when I do something weird."

Tab pulled her mouth to the side as she looked at Lachlan, and slight confused look on her face. "Unless you're about to tell me you start playing your bagpipes with your arse, then I don't think I'm going to really care about unconventional. I know we'll make it work. We were already going to record together, what's the difference with this? And this way you'll have your band for that, too. You won't have to worry about doing any of it alone."
Re: Lachlan [OTA but tag Tab]drcampbellMay 23 2009, 13:57:58 UTC
"Hey, that isnae through lack of trying," Lachlan joked. "I just use unusual methods to the results I need and I have a tendency of butting in when something isnae working. Actually, it was probably a good idea I never was a professional recording artist. Maybe this really isnae a good idea." He was wavering again and stopped, letting out a heavy huff of breath and scratching the back of his head as he looked at her her apologetically. "I'm sorry. I can do this is a room full of my oldest pals, but I'm scared. I'll try nay to let it come out so much. I'm sure there'll be plenty of offers to smack sense into me."
