Evie walked quickly through the hospital, the borrowed car keys swinging off her finger. She was lucky she had a nurse friend that would trust her with the family vehicle. Probably lucky the husband had a second one. There was a slight twinge in her stomach as she thought about kids and she remembered the messages she'd exchanged with Riley, and the talk of Tara and Lachlan experiencing that moment just after giving birth where they saw their child for the first time.
She'd never really gave it much thought before but between Chase's wife being pregnant and Tara looking more and more like she was ready to pop, kids seemed to be on her mind constantly.
As she neared Pat's room, and saw her boyfriend sitting there waiting, Evie pushed the line of thinking out of her mind. The important thing now was being here for Riley and Pat. That didn't stop her from throwing herself at him and giving him a kiss that threatened to cut off his oxygen. "Missed you like crazy, Dr Browne."
