First off I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Last Tuesday I flew into Chicago to get ready to see my husband graduate basic training on Wednesday. I got a little lost on my way to the hotel but eventually found it so that is all that matters.
Wednesday morning I got up around 3am (1am my time)to get ready to go to the graduation. I can't explain how happy I was to see him wednesday morning, when all the sailors were walking in I teared up a little. Because he won the ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARD
I had special setting for the ceremony. After (well during the end) of the ceremony the escorted the families of the award winners to the back where we got to meet up with our sailors. When he first saw me my husband came up and gave me a big kiss and hug, it felt so good after waiting so long for it. My husband then had to take a picture with the CO and all the other award winner then we all went into a special reception and he got his award and we got to meet all the big wigs and have cake and punch. After we finished up with everything at the base we headed back to the hotel (which I had decorated for his birthday since it was during the time he was in training). He opened his gifts, had some more cake, then we headed into Chicago for some sight seeing. We took the train into the city then went and visited the Sears Tower, walked around a bit then had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe before heading back to the hotel.
The next day was Thanksgiving and we had a flight out at 1pm so we got up got some food then headed to the airport. We finally made it into Sacramento around 5pm where his parents picked us up at the airport and we headed to my parents for Thanksgiving dinner. Friday we had a welcome home/going away BBQ at my parents house. Lost of family and friends came over to say there hellos and good byes. It was nice. Then Saturday morning Matt had to be back at the airport at 4am to fly to SC. It was a short visit with him but I enjoyed every second of it and can't wait to find out when I get to move there with him.
Of course I took pictures...not as many as I would have liked though...you can check them out in my collection here
