so the last two days have been crazy mad at michaels. we've had so many people in our store it's RIDICULOUS. i haven't been able to get any of my price changes done b.c i'm constantly being called to cashier and getting asked questions when i'm walking places on the floor. totally spent 30 minutes today helping a customer design some mirror project about "reflecting on yourself" for some little kids... yesterday spent a good 20 minutes basically designing this kid's church diarama for some mother
all this happened yesterday:
a lady was shopping with her cat. i've seen dogs before (two, today infact) but never a cat. Also, she called me red to get my attention.
i also got my frist manager complaint yesterday, which was funny because it was something completely stupid. They called for backup cashiers and I was the first to arrive, so as i'm walking i announce "i can help the next person in line at register 4." Well, the first person to walk up to my register wasn't in line at all. She just happened to have walked up there at the same time i got there. So this lady in the next line over starts complaining to the other cashier up there, Nacoy, that it was unfair and usually customary that the actual next person in line gets to go to the cash register that just opened. Then she asked to speak to my manager. Meanwhile I finished with the person i was checking out and started checking out the next person. Our conversation went like this:
me: hi. how are you?
lady: good *big smile* and you?
me: just wonderful
lady: Well it's nice to see *somebody's* having a good day.
She was so nice. Everybody else in my line who had heard the lady complain was really nice to me too.
I tuned out what the mean lady said to my boss while I was checking people out, but this is what he told me later. Apparently she just complained a lot and wanted to make sure I was going to get in trouble. After she was finished, another lady walked up to my boss and started going on about how I had done nothing wrong and was doing a wonderful job and that she was a regular and always got good service here. Then, the mean lady, thinking I might not get talked to given what the nice lady said, talked to my boss again for a long time about my performance as a cashier. The nice lady totally reaffirms my belief that people are naturally good. I love people. :) (except when they make me cry.... or come really, really close to it like the mean lady did)
so this is a way long post... and way long posts annoy me, so i'll stop here... stories from today for another time....
