oh man Oman
Hello to All,
Another country...another mass e-mail. Bettina and i are currently in Dubai, UAE. We learned quickly on our first day that this is an expensive city. We learned the hard way that asking for a hostel here is like asking for one in Beverly Hills. Not gonna happen! Luckely we were able to find a hotel that had cut its prices by 50% for Ramadan.
The first few days B and i just rested trying to get over our stomach ailments from Egypt. We have ventured out to the places that the hotels FREE shuttle will take us. The first night we went to the mall. We opted not to buy any thing from Louie Vetton, Dior, Docle and Gabna and Hermes. Instead we had coffee at starbucks (still out of our budget :o) The next day we went to the beach it was BEAUTIFUL!! The sand was white and the water was clear blue and warm. (yes Judy and Paul i applied sunscreen 3 times in the 3 hours i was there) Thats night B and i were unusually exhausted so we went to bed early.
The next day we had planned on heading to the Dubai musuem, but we both felt awful. My mother would be proud that we are sharing...the same cold. Since we are both miserable we have decided to take it easy and kick back. This is our first vacation from our vacation.
We are enjoying having our own hotel room with our own shower. We have been passing time by watching movies on the 2 English channels with Arabic subtitles. They are showing all American movies and a wide range i might add. We have seen our fair share of Disney movies from the 1950's and films from the 1990s where a dog holds the lead role. And we were so lucky last night they even aired an episode of Scrubs.
While we were on a felucca trip down the Nile we met an amazing Indian couple that is currently living in Oman. Tomarrow we plan to escape expensive UAE and bus down there for a visit. Just another country to add to my list! :o)
I will give you plenty of updates soon, but now i need to go blow my nose!
