We had a lazy Saturday today.

We went first to Choctaw books and rooted through the huge piles of all kinds of books and wound up finding 2 Eric Ambler books that my Daddy wanted, a Dorothy Huges three-in-one (Ride the Pink Horse, In a Lonely Place, and The Davidian Report), a Dorothy Sayers two-in-one (Clouds of Witness and The Unpleasantness at the Bellona Club), and a Truman Capote two-in-one (The Grass Harp and A Tree of Night). For those keeping score, that's 15 books purchased in the last three days. I only paid full price for two of them, so it's not as bad as it could be. Result: I need a new bookcase. :)

After the bookstore, we ate cheeseburgers at Rooster's and went to Fondren Beverage Emporium for fun drinks and imported candy. My friend Karen owns New Vibrations, which is between Rooster's and FBE; so we went in, and I bought a pretty blue bowl by Martha Jane Hamburg. Then we went to the mall where I bought MAC makeup: a Paint Pot in Bare Study and PlushGlass lipgloss in Power Supply.

It was a big day for purchases, and then I came home and made supper (recipe follows).

Pasta Puttanesca with Tuna

1 tbs olive oil
1/4 cup diced white onion
1 6 oz can tomato paste with basil, garlic, and oregano
1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
2 tsp capers
1/2 c chopped kalamata olives
1 3 oz packet albacore tuna

With a pan at med-high heat, add the olive oil and onion and saute til clear. Add tomato paste and whoosh around til all mixed up. Add diced tomatoes and mix up. Cook for a few minutes then add capers and olives and reduce heat to low. Put lid on pan and cook for about 20 minutes while you boil penne with salt in the water. When the pasta has about 5 minutes left, add the packet of tuna and mix all around. Add salt (if needed) and pepper. Drain pasta and serve all together.

It's easy. SUPER easy. And it tastes pretty good if I say so myself. Usually I don't buy pre-seasoned tomato paste, but it was a happy accident in this case.
