I have decided that I want to be a lobbyist for allowing kids ot be kids. I've seen and heard too many things where children are becoming adults and not in that cute make-believe in mommy shoes way. 5 year olds do NOT need bras and makeup. 6 year olds should still be having fun on the jungle gym at recess. Give them shorts and let them wear those fun twirly skirts. My 7 year old should not be trying to pass off a long t-shirt for a dress. It looked shockingly similar to a dress that Britney SPears tried to pass off once. It looked like a long purple t-shirt with a belt.
In short, Alex and I had a huge argument over why this t-shirt featuring a Disney Character family was not in any way, shape, or form acceptable as a dress.
What happened to the days of jeans with characters and t-shirts? The days when Limited Too was not the say-all of fashion. The days when music was music and not an entire lifestyle statment. What happened to the days when children were allowed to play make believe and not be made to feel silly about it. Dancing around in a silly fashion was cherished and not scolded. Wanting to wear pigtails was not detered and replaced with grown up hair dos. I just don't know.
Children need to be children. There is no need to make them older than they are. They will get there when they get there. Why push them?
