I Don't Get It

Feb 17, 2010 14:03

So. Midwest  Kings (Neal & Andy's band from before David) is playing a show in Tulsa tomorrow night. The venue they're playing tweeted that David would be appearing as a special guest at tomorrow night's MWK show. They've since deleted the tweet.

Needless to say, people are flipping out. They're pissed they aren't going to be there because David will be. But then there are people pissed off and disappointed in David because the minute he shows up, it's all about HIM and it's not about MWK anymore. And David's an attention whore. Seriously? SERIOUSLY. This is turning into a clusterfuck and I just don't GET THE BIG DEAL. UGH. Everyone HAD TO KNOW that there was a CHANCE David would show up because he PLAYED WITH THEM before Idol. (hello, Hunger Strike?) And Neal and Andy are his friends and he's going to support them. Not to mention Kyle and Joey. He's not going to steal their thunder (even a friend not in the fandom knows that)

No matter what he does, he can't please everyone. Not to mention this is going to turn ugly if there's literally no security and David gets accosted and has to leave because people won't leave him alone. Then again, maybe not because when they did the secret show after the Cain's show, I think everyone was fairly respectful (But then maybe not).

I've really had it with the sense of entitlement in this fandom. I don't get the big deal. So David shows up, plays a song or 2 with them, and goes and watches for the rest of the night. It's an MWK show - NOT a David Cook show, and David's NOT going to turn it into that. If nothing else, we'll get some great video and fun stories - and hopefully this won't turn into something so ugly that this never, ever happens again. Because while I can't make it to Tulsa - I'm holding out hope that there's an East Coast show at some point and I get my chance to see them live. Why? Because the music is good. Not because David may or may not be there.
