Glaring fiercely, Hermione abruptly stood up from the bench and stormed up to her professor. She handed over the volume clutched in small, white-knuckled hands. He took it with an elegant swish as their eyes met for a brief, arresting moment.
Her heart thudded awkwardly and then, with a snort, sharp nod of his head, he summarily dismissed her. Yet, just that moment in time had been enough. When she was no longer so livid with her friends, she would reflect back on what had just occurred inside her when her eyes had met those fathomless pools of darkest onyx.
