So I've waited to cut out the striped voile skirt peices until the bodice was completed, so that I could try it on and determine exactly how long I wanted to make it (if the 4826 pattern was too short, etc.). After trying it on last night and holding the fabric in front of me, apron style, I had just decided that the knee-length pattern was perfect, no alterations needed. I ran downstairs to show my mum before I took it off.
"Oh, I thought you were going to make it with a longer skirt. To showcase the fabric more."
Indecision! The thought had never occurred to me, but maybe I should! I held it up that way (just above calf-length), and it does look nice. Leaner, I think. It's a different look than I originally planned, but perhaps it's better? Does it work with the pockets? I'll have to change the sloping angle of the skirt pieces . . .
I realize this is practically impossible to ask without showing pictures, but any insights?
