RP Log :: Momo, Kaidoh

Apr 14, 2006 19:41

When :: April 14th, Friday morning
Where :: Dormitory
Rating :: PG-13ish
Summary :: It must've been sheer luck that Momo and Kaidoh, despite living on the same floor, have managed to unintentionally avoid each other up until now. After not having seen each other in over 3 years since their break up, a sudden collision in the hallway causes old scars to reopen and a new chapter unfolds.

With a yawn Kaoru got up from his desk. He had been sitting there for over two hours now, working with an assignment, without taking any breaks. He stretched his entire body, trying to relax. His brain was starting to feel muddled and his otherwise perfect vision also felt somewhat strained after the intense reading session.

His cat, Peach, had been lying on the bed quietly for the past 40 minutes sleeping soundly. It was indeed very quiet in his room now that Eiji, his roommate, wasn't there to come and interrupt or shuffle stuff around all the time.

Kaoru still had homework to do, but sitting at the desk was making his back hurt and since there was no sofa in their dorm room he was seriously contemplating going to the common room. There was always the risk of someone already occupying it, but as long as they didn't bug him he'd probably get some work done. With that resolve he let Peach sleep, collected his stuff and going out Kaoru closed the door behind him softly.

Picking up his backpack off of the floor, the spiked, jet-black haired 2nd year darted an approving smile at his classmate when he gave the final words on their collaborated project. Momoshiro had made a trip over to his colleague’s dorm room early this morning so that they could get a head-start on their group advanced audio project.

“Yah, no prob~ I’ll be sure to bring my equipment over tomorrow then!”

Stepping outside the doorway, he shined a thumb up and commenced his journey back to his own dorm room.

“Alright~ See you at noon tomorrow then, Damon. Later!”

He turned towards the common room and stepped out of the room.

I’ve gotta free afternoon--- for once~ Looks like a nice day to shoot some hoops… I haven’t done that in a while.

Kaoru advanced down the hallway, books under one arm and his free hand stuffed in his pocket. Since he'd barely stepped out of his room all day, he was dressed very casually in a black tank top and slacks, his hair unruly and out of the bandana.

The light in the hallway was dim and there were no loud voices coming from the common room. Kaoru took this as a sign and started walking faster; maybe he'd actually get through the book today.

Random thoughts were streaming through Momo's mind, as he was halfway down the hallway now and minutes away from dorm room. Reaching into his jacket, he took hold of his iPod and began selecting an album to listen to. Occupied by the plentiful collection, Momo paid no attention to where he was walking and let his legs blindly lead the way.

The two boys had unconsciously come in much closer proximity than they had for a long while.

While the older boy was quite preoccupied with his music, Kaoru himself was caught in his own train of thoughts. He was walking in a steady pace until he noticed the other coming towards him. As his fussy brain finally registered who it was, Kaoru was momentarily stunned. His books slipped out of his grasp and he hurriedly bowed down to grab them before the two would collide.

"Look out!" He wasn't even sure Momo had time to noticed.

With headphones securely stuffed into his ears, Momo could hear nothing else, but the music being projected out from his ipod. The warning Kaidoh had attempted to convey to Momo was muffled and before the older boy could realize it himself, it was already too late. Eyes wide, he stretched his arms out in front of him and tried to salvage him somehow. It was a nice try, but the consolation prize jolted through his elbow as he collided with the nice, hard floor. With teeth gridded from the pain, he rolled himself to face forward and demanded to know what had caused him to trip.

“Argh-dammit…. I guess I should’ve been watching where I was going…” Tilting his head up for a better view, he locked eyes on the person in front of him and proceeded to apologize before he realized who it was. “--- Sorry, I----“

Further speech decided to stop coming out of his mouth as his memory registered the younger boy’s description and a series of confused thoughts and feelings began to surface. One thought was certain, however--- that he didn’t want to talk to his person right now, if ever. Pressing his hands against the floor, he moved to pick himself off the ground and continue back to his room as if the collision had never happened. Forgetting the incident, well, that was a different story, but Momo would deal with that later, in the confinement of his own dorm.

Everything happened so quickly, suddenly Kaoru's books were everywhere but in front of him, and he had also momentarily been shoved into the floor as the older boy had tripped over him. He got up quickly enough though, while Momo was still recovering from his fall. Although Momoshiro had started out apologizing, the look that passed between the two boys, as their eyes met were anything but affectionate.

Before Momo could bolt, and before Kaoru could ponder why he was doing it, his hand moved on reflex and grabbed the older boy's arm, as if trying to stop him. There was fierce determination as Kaoru glared at his former rival. And lover.

Once Momo felt the touch of Kaidoh’s hand around his arm, he snatched it back to his side immediately and turned around again, shooting him a disgusted glare.

“Fuck off.” The words shot out of his mouth so quickly, but he didn’t feel any regret in expressing them. Whatever Kaidoh’s reasoning for grabbing his arm was irrelevant to Momo; he didn’t want to talk or see him. Old scars had been reopened.

Before he could stop himself Kaoru took a step forward, in Momo's direction, and shoved the older boy roughly in the chest.

"Why don't you fuck off??" Kaoru's eyes narrowed into small slits, making his eyes look almost feline. The first thing Momo uttered to Kaoru after all that time wasn't at all charming, and it pissed Kaoru off that Momo was acting as if Kaoru had done something bad in getting tripped over. But he didn't stand staring for long.

Cursing under his breath Kaoru knelt down and started collecting the books himself, leaving Momo to do as he pleased. Kaoru would rather not have petty arguments with the one person he still couldn't face without loosing his composure.

Teeth bared as Kaidoh knelt down to collect his books; Momo’s right leg moved with rage as it shot out and kicked one of the nearby books across to the other end of the hallway. Frankly not caring one bit about manners, Momo retaliated and proceeded to give the other another harsh reply.

“I said it first, fucker.”

If there were any reason for Momo to stick around, it would be to get his way, like he always attempted to do back in the day when the two were actually on speaking terms.

Falling back in their old routine, but without the forgiveness, fueled by his anger Kaoru shot up from the floor and blindly grabbed a hold of Momoshiro's jacket. Hoisting both jacket and Momo, Kaoru glowered at the supposedly older boy. Who still acted like he was five.

"You think I give." This time he shoved hard enough to create some distance between the two as Kaoru let go. The shove was almost strong enough to make Momo loose his balance.

The shove did steal his balance away, but Momo managed to retrieve it in time before tumbling onto the floor--- again. With an expression more fierce than a few moments ago, Momo bore his glare at Kaidoh and raised his hand, pointing a single finger in the other’s direction.

“Don't. Touch. ME.”

Not at all feeling like continuing this pointless quarrel, he turned back around again and this time, would make sure he made it back to his dorm room this time.

"Never took you for the running away type." Kaoru glared at Momo's retreating figure. "Proves what I know..." he hissed under his breath as he once more turned and walked in the direction the book had been kicked, opposite of the one Momoshiro had headed in.

Kaoru's already muddled head felt even less clear after their encounter. After the energy boost he had gotten abruptly ended, it was as if a sudden wave of fatigue washed over him. His vision got suddenly blurry...

Deciding it’d be in his best interest to, for once, let the other have the last word, Momo continued down the hallway without a reply or turning back to glare at him. This would have been a success, had it not been for the sudden thump upon the ground that his ears picked up on behind him. Knowing quite well what had happened, but praying that he’d be mistaken, Momo paused in his tracks and slowly turned back around. Several feet away from where he was standing laid the sprawled Kaidoh on the ground. Not moving. And for once, not running his mouth at Momo.

He wanted to yell out in anger and frustration at the sudden bad luck that had fallen on his shoulders. Why him? WHY

With his morals well in tact, Momo had no other choice.

Sucking up the current irritable feelings coursing through his nerves, Momo hurried back over and knelt down to the other’s aid. He decided to ditch his backpack and Kaidoh’s books; they would only slow him down. Taking hold of one of Kaidoh’s arms, with some effort, he hoisted Kaidoh over his right shoulder and moved towards the---

Oh great. FUCK ME. There’s no elevator and we’re on the 5th floor!!!

It was going be a long trek over to the nurse’s office downstairs, but despite the past and his current opinion of the younger colleague, Momo couldn’t help being worried about him. He took a deep breath before starting down the flight of stairs.

The bumpy ride down the stairs, hanging at an odd angle over Momo's shoulder, made a very dazed Kaoru crack his eyes open slightly. He didn't try to move because his head hurt and it seemed like black spots floated around him. He closed his eyes again, but couldn't stop the feeling off unbalanced. It made him almost feel sick to his stomach, so feebly he grasped for something to hold onto. Before everything went black-

This is not at all how I planned on spending my Friday morning! Momo thought to himself as he reached the 4th floor landing and started down to the next level. Gee. Have you put on some weigh…? It had been 3 years since the last time he’d seen the other, and frankly, Momo couldn’t be certain if he really was heavier. In fact, he didn’t even want to think about the other right now. It was difficult to do this however since well, he was right there; a little too close for comfort was quite the understatement. Unfortunately there was little that Momo could do at this point, or much rather, back there. He didn’t think Kaidoh was suffering from anything serious, probably a headache or a faint spell. Regardless, he couldn’t bring himself to be so cruel and leave someone in need; he couldn’t hate someone that much. He reached the 3rd floor landing and paused for a moment and attempted to adjust Kaidoh to a less strenuous angle. After taking in another deep breath, he started down the stairs again; only 2 more flights to go!

Once again trying to regain some knowledge of his surroundings Kaoru cursed his inability to open his eyes without seeing dots in all color variations zooming across his vision. Closing his eyes again he decided to stop opening them at all, it made his head feel even heavier. He hated the feeling of helplessness, usually, but at that moment he was all too dazed to actually complain or even think any really coherent thoughts. He could basically just hang onto the other.

That’s it. Momo began to think. If my shoulder gives out, then that’ll be reason enough to just ditch him on the 2nd floor He concluded as he took his step onto the 2nd floor landing, his leg wobbling slightly as he placed it back onto firm ground. On second thought---I might end up collapsing as well if I don’t do something about my shoulder

Pausing on that landing for a moment, Momo knelt down slowly and placed Kaidoh’s feet briefly down on the floor to give his shoulder a little break. He made sure not to get too comfortable with the current situation and quickly moved Kaidoh over to his other shoulder and lifted him back up.

ONE more flight to go!

Maybe it was just him and his anxious state to get to the nurse’s office right away, but Momo felt as if there were twice as many stairs leading down to the lobby than there were on any other flight of stairs he’d already come down from. This just added to his already unlucky day. Mentally kicking himself, he wondered ten times over just what he’d done to deserve such a day.

Finally setting foot on the lobby floor, Momo shifted to the right and attempted to pick up his pace; the nurse’s office was just around the corner. It wouldn’t be long before he could deposit Kaidoh into her hands and be free of him.

Stepping into the office, Momo darted an “a little help here” expression to the nurse standing at the desk, who appeared to be going through some recent visitor records. She hurried over immediately and directed one of her present assistants to help her bring Kaidoh into the other room.

Relieved that he managed to bring Kaidoh all the way down without having an episode of his own, Momo moved to turn around and head out the door. A questioning voice stopped him in his tracks as he was asked where he was going. After trying to convince the nurse that he really had to be on his way, the nurse didn’t budge in the least and demanded that Momo stay around as to explain to Kaidoh just what had happened since it would be better to hear that information from a peer versus a much older adult.

As his fury settled back in, he had an urge to kick the nearest waiting chair in his immediate vicinity, but figured that that would only get him in trouble. Following behind the head nurse, they entered the room that the other nurse had placed Kaidoh in and Momo branched off to the window side of the room.

I agreed to stay, but I never said anything about standing next to him in the same room.

It was some time later that Kaoru finally came to his senses. To him it felt like it had been moments ago that he had collapsed on the fifth floor after his argument with Momoshiro. Opening his eyes experimentally, gradually getting used to the brightness of the clinically white room, quickly confirmed his suspicions though. There was a time gap, between that moment and this, which his brain could only vaguely make out.

It involved him being hoisted and carried down some sets of stairs. By the person he'd been arguing with, namely Momoshiro.

Kaoru noticed that someone else was presence in the room. Momoshiro was still there, seemingly waiting for him to wake up. Surely just to cause more fuss... or simply because Momo had been forced to stay around. Either way Kaoru paused momentarily before making any motion to break the silent spell of the room to make the other aware of him becoming conscious. The still disoriented youth had no idea what he was supposed to say to the older boy. He breathed quietly. Just one more second...

He’d done a lot of moving around the tiny room he’d been forced to stay in and for Kaidoh to regain consciousness, however, he’d ended up right back where he started. Momo attention was fixed on the view outside the clinic room, resting his head against his hand, which he had elevated against the nearby wall.

I could be doing something else right now…. Aside from waiting for that jerk to wake up.

"You don't have to wait anymore you know..." Kaoru's voice sounded even more deep and husky than usual. He turned towards the other side of the room, facing away from where Momoshiro was standing.

"Anyway, thanks," he blurted out but continued hastily before Momo would or could retort, "I can tell you'd rather be somewhere else, so nothings keeping you anymore..." the last thing Kaoru had wanted to do was thank Momoshiro. But Kaoru was brought up anything but impolite, and Momo's selfless deed called for at least some sort of recognition.

The sudden insertion into the silence cued Momo to turn away from the window and direct his attention to the now conscious Kaidoh.

“Didn’t know you were awake.” He said in reply to Kaidoh’s statement about what Momo didn’t have to do anymore. It didn’t come off as something new for Kaidoh to be polite when the situation called for it, even if it involved his rival. However, Momo wasn’t taking kindly to the now mellow atmosphere. He still harbored the same frustration he’d felt even before the other had collapsed on the ground and Kaidoh’s toned down nature wasn’t going to make a difference at that moment.

“…. Sure. And yah. I do.”

Moving away from the window now, Momo broke his attention from Kaidoh and focused on making it out the door. He knew it was impolite of him to not return an acceptable reply to Kaidoh’s thanks, but at the moment, he could really care less.

Momo's chilly response didn't even faze him; at least Kaoru told himself just that. He sat up slowly, gauging if the earlier nausea would return. When it didn't he leaned back into the cushion, taking a moment to finally relax before he would need to get up and get out of there... he had no idea about the state of neither his books nor the other's things. Momo had made it towards the door when he started saying something,

"--I..." but Kaoru didn't even bother finishing the thought in his mind. Simply watching Momo's retreating figure.
