The Crazy Hike of Amazing Doomness!!!!

Jun 04, 2005 22:24

Hey everyone out there in fun-land!!! I know it has been a while since I have posted here so I thought that I would give you an update on life right now. How have things been for me? Well for the last little while things have not been too bad. I have been enjoying life and, of course, work constantly keeps me as busy as I can be. Yet, the evil stress bug, which I shall name "Horus", has been attacking me over the last couple of weeks. Perhaps it is the IV drip coffee I have had, or my selfless inhalation of the crazy "jiffy" marker fumes, but Horus has been leaving me kinda paranoid. So to deal with my stress I am applying for a second job!!! Ahhh.... compound stress..... mmmmmm..... It is my hope that the financial stress I have been under for the last little while, and the stress of a new job, will cancel each other out and leave me feeling pretty good.

So, for those of you who are interested, I am applying as a service slave at the confectionery under the UVic Bookstore (Finnerty's Express). The job pays really well and is unionized so I might actually be able to save some money over the next year. The only downside to the job is that it terminates next May. However, it does mean that I could later apply for a job in the Bookstore proper as an internal applicant which would make me very happy. This would mean that I would be cutting back my hours at the House of Knives so that I could make some serious money for my grad program. This means, however, that I will not be taking classes this year. :( I really wanted to upgrade me knowledge of Latin and get a start on Classical Greek but I have decided that I will not be going back on loan again for my education. Having been on Student Loans since 3rd year (1998) I think that I have indebted myself to the government enough. Any more would be masochistic in my opinion.

Whew.... That was a load I needed to unburden from myself.... now to get centered.... heehee.....

On an entirely different note, I just came back from the best ever hike I have ever done in the whole of today!!! We climbed and scraped and chopped our way around the Sooke River out near the potholes. I got to try out my "Bushman" knife which, I must say, definitely stood up to the kind of abuse I am likely to put it through. After we attached it to a sapling, I felt like a young hunter heading off into the wilds of Vancouver Island. The rock formations totally blew me away as well. Seeing that kind of natural erosion really made me appreciate my Island home a lot more than I have in a while. Not that I dislike the Island, I am just getting the wanderlust bug again. Where I will go I am not sure yet. And, as it is not likely to happen before next summer, I have plenty of time to plan what I am going to do. Anyway, I think that about wraps up my life for the last couple of months. Hopefully things will continue to be this amazing. Till next time.
