The State of Maryland will have its Primary Election on 24th of June this year and the filing deadline is February 25th. Most of the elected officials do not advertise elections nor recruit good candidates to run for elected office. In our state, most of the State Senators are reasonably powerful and they make slates of candidates of their choice. For example, In Prince George’s county , 6 out of 9 school board members that were endorsed by State Senators did not have a college degree in 2012. It was an embarrassment to the political machine.

It sent a wake-up call which was followed by the legislative changes.

In the school board primary election, the top two candidates will advance to the general election.
I would encourage you to run if you have ideas, energy and the passion to serve and make a difference in our community. Please drop me an email and I will be more than happy to extend my help and also garner some resources.
Thank you and have a wonderful day.
