Intro - my quiet life

Jan 01, 2005 21:04

Well, folks, lolafae has convinced me that having been on livejournal for a month, I ought to contribute something substantive. That, of course, is assuming that the personality behind the contribution is substantive, but I'll forgo debating that point for the moment.

Much of my personal info can be gleaned from looking at my meme postings and user interests. (I do try to limit myself to those items which are more pertinent to my personality and interests, including, hopefully, most of my LJ friends). I'm male, almost 40 *gasp* (see birthday and ljover30), live in Texas (location and interests), and am a Librarian (title of journal and interests). I'm an INTP (interests) on the Myers Briggs scale - Introvert, Intuitive, Thinker, Perceiver - and tend prefer to respond by commenting than by proactively asserting my personality. One aspect of my life that is not immediately obvious is that I am am once divorced and remarried.

I sit on the fence with regard to the "normals" and the "alternatives," probably spending most of my time with my legs swung over onto the alternative side. I have an interest in spirituality and religion, having passed through several phases of my life before settling, perhaps much as Ralph Waldo Emerson, in a Transcendental belief somewhere in the neighborhood of Quakerism and Unitarianism. My spiritual outlook is also expressed in my politics (green, progressive, and service-oriented), my job, and my interests in literature, art, and music. As you can see, I have been fortunate to be able to refine my life into a fairly consistent state of being. As far as my interest in SEX, well, I attribute that to original sin - NOT! (Sarcasm rears its head!)

Congratulations if you have made it this far without nodding off, I'm afraid that this self-expository format does not lend itself to the sort of pithy comments I make and flatter myself by believing I excel at! At any rate, I will remain on the sidelines for now, occasionally interjecting or replying to comments directed at me. However, I do apprediate being accepted into y'all's midst, and hope that you each will gain some benefit from my presence!
