Jake was home a couple weekends ago and stopped by just like old times. He even did our hair and makeup! Especially humorous when the following conversation took place:
Jake: [studies a foundation sample in Oprah magazine that is several shades darker than Tara's skin.] I'm going to put this makeup on you.
Tara: ...I'm really broken out...
Jake: [confidently] This will help.
A couple days later, we heard that Tanner won a hippie jump competition in longboarding. With a 4 foot, 5 inch jump. His prize was a new longboard, which was good because he broke his other one prior to his winning jump. The story goes that he was competing against this real jerk, who kept taking things out of his pockets to be lighter during jumps. Tanner got ready for the last one, and all the people are yelling for him to lighten his load, too. He's the only kid there who wears a helmet, but he was sick of this other kid's attitude, and finally took his shirt off, threw his helmet on the ground and nailed the last jump. Mom asked how he did it, and he said confidently, "Football. I was fast and I could always jump really high." So proud of him!
We've been watching Sabra the past couple Saturdays as well. She's more and more comfortable around us each time, babbling and shrieking happily. Such a great little baby. This past weekend, though, things got a little scary post nap, when she must have had a bad dream and woke up shaking. Broke our hearts. Pretty excited to have her come over and play tomorrow, and hang out with her again Saturday.
In totally weird news, we had an apartment inspection last week. Nothing new. Those happen about once a year. We always pass. It's not rocket science and we aren't hoarders. This year, though, we were a little lax. But absolutely did not expect a notice in the mail informing us that we failed the inspection. Came with a list of areas which were lacking. Other than the general housekeeping, the other areas aren't anything I would have even thought about cleaning (and never have in the past.) But, we've got to pass inspection so I spent from 9 am to 6 pm cleaning the crap out of the apartment. I took the living room and the bedroom. Tara took the kitchen and the bathroom (and vaccuuming and sweeping.) All that, plus an hour this morning, just to be sure everything is in order, and my quads are feeling it! But on the positive side, things are pretty darn spotless. (And on the positive side, while airing out the apartment last night, we had the pleasure of hearing our former neighbor, Morgan, singing Blue Bayou, super passionately out on the patio. I miss his singing. I used to set my day by it, and his juicer, which were as reliable as the sun.
