“Lance, hi!”
“Hey, Gwenny, what’s up?”
As he reached for her in greeting, he never realized, until that moment, that he’d never really hugged Gwenyth before. Every friendly embrace that came before had separated them with a tension in two bodies that stopped them from fusing, a lightness of grip and a distance that kept them apart, divided them from one another. Until now, he never realized there was something that had been missing.
There was no resistance now as her body melted into his, no barrier of propriety that kept him from pulling her just as close as he wanted to. They didn’t stop before it got too close, just fell into each other with almost frightening ease. She was warm against him, a wonderful match of soft to hard…the curve of her neck fit his shoulder perfectly, the soft press of her small breasts against his chest fell just right against the lines of his body. Her scent overcame oxygen as he breathed in and out, and he was unafraid to let it drag him down into a dizzying tunnel of euphoria that left him unable and unwilling to ever let go.
Kissing her wasn’t even close to the simple, sweeping joy of being able to hold her and surrender to that inner voice that couldn’t stop chanting the word mine.
“Lance?” There was a smile in her voice, a possessive feel to the hand that slid down his back and over the side of his ribcage, telling him she felt it, too.
“Yeah?” He didn’t bother to hide the smile in his.
“You can let me go now.”
He sighed as he turned his head, pressing his face into her hair to breathe her in. “Yeah…I know.”
He made no move to let go for a long time…and neither did she.
