From
fountaingirl, the kitchen appliances meme:
Bold the ones you have and use at least once a year, italicize the ones you have and don't use, strike through the ones you have had but got rid of. (
kakiphony added: capitalize the ones you cov.et.)
I wonder how many pasta machines, bread makers, juicers, blenders, hand blenders, food dehydrators, single-cup hot beverage makers, cafitiere (French press), drip feed coffee makers, espresso machine, deep fat fryers, egg boilers, melon ballers, sandwich makers, waffle makers, hot air poppers, pastry brushes, cheese boards, cheese knives, crepe makers, electric woks, woks, miniature salad spinners, griddle pans, jam funnels, pie funnels, meat thermometers, filleting knives, egg poachers, cake stands, garlic crushers, martini glasses, tea strainers, bamboo steamers, pizza stones, coffee grinders, milk frothers, piping bags, banana stands, dough cutters, dough knives, fluted pastry wheels, rolling pins, tagine dishes, deviled egg plates, conical strainers, rice cookers, steam cookers, pressure cookers, slow cookers, garlic roasters, cookie presses, gravy strainers, double boilers (bains marie), sukiyaki stoves, ice cream makers, fondue sets, healthy-grills, home smokers, tempura sets, tortilla presses, punch bowl sets, springform baking pans, pie carriers, electric whisks, cherry stoners, bundt pans, sugar thermometers, food processors, stand mixers, mincers, slap food choppers, bread slicing guides, mandolines, bacon presses, bacon slicers, mouli mills, cake testers, MORTAR-AND-PESTLES, gratin dishes, apple corers, mango stoners and sets of kebab skewers languish dustily at the back of the world's cupboards.
PS -
fountaingirl, if you want the food processor, it can be yours! I'd rather slice and dice by hand (the only thing it has EVER been used for is making hummus, and haven't done that since the original wasband left me).
PPS - Most things I don't use I try and get rid of, but the things I do have but only use rarely are:
I use my old fashioned stovetop-type espresso maker to make Cuban coffee - YUM!
I found new life for the cookie press to make filled cupcakes!
The ice cream maker ball is a fun play-date activity, just didn't get to it this summer.
The piping bags are part of a frosting tip set, but I just use a ziplock bag instead because the piping bag is MURDER to clean after using!
The electric whisk I only keep around for if I EVER have to make whipped cream by hand - without one it is too much work for me. Otherwise, I prefer to whisk by hand... but why do I have TWO of them again? :P
The deviled egg plate was my grandmothers, and I cannot bear to part with it yet.
And I actually have THREE slow cookers, 1 large for meals and two small for appetizers or chocolate/cheese fondue (less likely to burn than with sterno.
PPS - I had to add the following: food dehydrators, hand blenders, single-cup hot beverage makers, deviled egg plates, punch bowl sets, woks, slap food choppers, rolling pins, waffle makers, mandolines, garlic roasters, hot air poppers, dough cutters, dough knives, bread slicing guides, springform baking pans, pie carriers, and bundt pans
PPPS - Anyone want any single cup hot beverage makers?
