It's been four days since his surgery, and he's recovering well. They changed his pain meds, since the oxycodone was just knocking him out. He's now awake more of the time, responsive and able to get out of bed for awhile. His skin is much more normal ( Read more... )

The kid was brought back to ICU about 45 minutes ago. His parents are in with him right now. The surgery went pretty much perfectly.

We think there were other families here getting transplants too, because the other groups left about the same time we got the news.

Light a candle for the one who last the battle but passed the torch on to others.

As of last night, his clotting factor was still low, leading to blood draws that needed pressure bandages. If this improves, it means his liver is getting better. If it doesn't, or gets worse, it means a liver transplant. He has been put on the list ( Read more... )
