i'm alive and in hawaii. my ship was damaged due to severe weather and we made a detour to hawaii instead of continuing on to korea as planned. we will probably be here for a long time because they need to repair the ship. semester at sea is probably going to fly us out to our ports including: china and vietnam. we are treating hawaii as our

soo...for the most part it seems like people are fine with what's going on. most people are disappointed about not going to korea and japan (they cancelled those ports) but are excited to be in Hawaii. i think most everyone understands that the weather is uncontrollable and that what happened was not forseen. there are the minority angry people who are blaming what happened on Semester at Sea. i only heard a rumor about one girl in my class who was very angry (and compared what happened to us to 9/11...wtf?!) and supposedly her parents are going to sue. but, we all signed a contract saying we cannot sue them especially because of unforseeable events like what happened. they're doing all they can to help us and by that, they will probably have to charter some planes to get us to the other ports. i'm not sure how long it will take the ship to get fixed, but we'll find out more in a few days after the thorough assessment is done. whew. that's a mouthful.
so poo. we don't get to go to korea and japan. but i will hopefully go sometime in the summer. thanks for reading what i wrote, and for caring about me! i miss you. i hope everything's going well in japan. love you.
