[personal] Cupcakes and Kerflooey Youtube
Well, I finally got around to making some cupcakes from my Little Pink Book of a Gajillion Cupcakes (okay, that's not the real title but it's funnier my way). Here's the book:
Well, except mine doesn't say "UPDATED & REVISED" at the bottom. Instead it says "NEW EDITION!" in front of the "the only cupcake compendium you'll ever need." But otherwise, it's identical.
Anyways, I bought this highly overpriced book when I went to visit my folks in April but I just haven't had the chance to make anything. I keep wanting to but money's been so tight that I always end up scratching the ingredients off the shopping list. I FINALLY got the stuff to make the very first recipe, the spanish orange syrup cupcakes.
I'm not sure they'll turn out since I had to substitute all-purpose flour for the semolina and it's a much softer flour, but I'm hoping that since it's only one of THREE flours in them it will be okay (the other two are almond flour and cake flour). As far as my research turned up, you don't want to substitute all-purpose flour for semolina if you're making pasta but for everything else it can be used.
Next week I'll make the vanilla cupcakes. I figure I'll just make them all in order except certain ones from the seasonal and kids sections and the "alternate diet" section. Fortunately, the vanilla cupcakes don't need semolina so as long as my buttermilk is still good then I have everything I need.

No, no. One batch of cupcakes for a weekend is probably enough. But, damn it, these look so tasty!!
Anyways, on to the other topic of this post.
I had to reboot my computer after installing a more recent version of MS Word (though still not 2010 version) and ever since youtube just won't play for me. It could be a coincidence but the first step to figuring if it's on my end or their end is to reboot and try again. So even though I picked a whimsical song for today's Video of the Day episode, it'll probably be later till I get it posted. But don't worry, it will go up today even if it's like right before midnight. I am making this a priority LOL
It's so sad that I can't just invite you guys over for cupcakes... I mean, sharing with the hubby is great but making good food for good people is one of the simple things for which I feel great joy.
