I think I may have to rethink my "favorite song" list.
No matter how good those songs are and how much I love them.... It's just, when a song (or album or whatever) represents your whole childhood to the point that hearing it will bring tears to your eyes just because of how important that music was to you in a very influential part of your life...
Really, that's your favorite and no matter what you hear for the rest of you life, the connection you have to that music never fades.
So... 1582 gets bumped to "second favorite" which puts Sadistic Love and Water Dance tied for third now and then NEWS song Hoshi wo Mezashite in 4th.
Wait, what do you mean I can't have an entire album as my Absolute Favorite Song Ever? It's not the same if it's not the whole album 'cause I listened to that tape when I slept - all night every night for years.
Oh damn it. I totally forgot about Icehouse's "Electric Blue" and "Crazy" which are the anthems of my relationship with my father when I was a child. He had that record and used to play those songs and dance with me in the living room. You know, the man can be a total ass (and it's largely understandable considering the constant physical pain he's in even when they're not operating on him yet again) and I know that he wasn't home as much when I was little because of being in the Navy... but I'm happy he's my dad because I still have those memories.
Well, anyway, the point is that childhood songs = totally awesome even when they make you cry.
Okay, musing aside, I've started work on the next TWCC update. Only got 350 words so far but it's okay. I'll get it. No work for the rest of the week so I should have plenty of time to write. Though I will admit, I have another project barking at my door as it were. Not a new idea but in addition to just listening to the song from my youth, I've also been listening to the concept album I'm going to borrow (read: rip off almost completely) a fic plot from. Listening to the music makes me want to write it so in addition to the 350 words on TWCC update, I've got 200 words of Jin 1st person perspective for that story. But don't worry, I will just not listen to that album again for now and focus on TWCC!!
