1. My mom was an anthropologist. She died in a plane crash coming back from Greece. We weren't speaking then, and now... I can't even remember what we were fighting about in the first place.
2. My dad is a psychiatrist. Yeah, two parents who have the option of calling themselves "Dr." Though I think my dad mostly needs his own help these days.
3. My sister, Elaire, is four years younger than me. She's going off to college next year. (She wants to go to UCLA. I'm trying to get her to consider NYU instead since I'm transferring to NYU.)
4. Every year when I was a kid, we'd always go to Long Beach for two weeks in the summer. The summer before I graduated, we stayed for an entire month. I always cried when we started driving home. I just wanted to live there.
5. My parents are from different coasts. Thank God for college, right?
6. My mom's parents are Sicilian. They get really, really offended when people assume they're Italian. They get even more mad when they explain that to people and they ask; "Isn't that the same thing?" It's really, really not.
7. My dad never really talks about his parents. He never knew his dad and his mom wasn't really that nice of a person, I guess. She sends Christmas cards and birthday cards each year, and he helps with her medical bills. But we never see her, and he doesn't mention her. So I don't know much about my other set of grandparents.
8. We're all Catholic. Like devoutly. Elaire and I were even confirmed. Though, I can't honestly tell you the last time I went to mass. Probably on a Christmas or something.
9. My cousin, Alexis, has auditioned for American Idol three times. She's never made it to the actual judges. She said that you have to sing for producers of the show first, and the only put through the really good people and the really bad ones. They told her she had an amazing voice, but she was too Broadway for the show. She keeps trying though.
10. The name 'Elise', my middle name, has been passed down through 5 generations of women on my mom's side.
