alright, guys -- May Day is going hot so far. How tempted I've been to go get some almonds from the nut hut today, but i stay true to the cause!! I wish I could have protested at noon with everyone, but i had school...and i'm failing as is, so i'm trying to pick my saggy butt up and pull off passing grades for the semester

why the change of heart?
--US pressure that the leniency of this new drug law would cause an incredible amount of drug-related tourism over the border (duh...)
But i thought this was one of Mexico's underlying reasons-- afterall, Amsterdam legalized marijuana use and tourism has skyrocketed ever since. Their economy is doing great.
So, why would THIS fact persuade Fox against it?
Afterall, if he doesn't care if his own people do it, why would he care that people from other countries (who would bring money to the economy) did it?
Nah, politics are behind evreything. this compromise is seen as a big plus towards Mexico from the US. Mexico wants to improve relations, so this is a good way to do it. But-- since Fox caved, it makes you wonder if this was the plan all along...I mean, if I was going to propose something as radical as this, I'd know people would disagree with it, so I'd be DAMN sure this is what I really wanted. (yes, i am becomign a socialist who does not trust THE MAN).
