The Mother of All Christmases (and possibly of my lj posts) Part Four

Apr 23, 2008 10:34

Thursday, the day after the day after Christmas. Trevor and I got up very early. It was probably the earliest we ever got up during our entire stay at All Star Movies. The night before Emily left us to spend the final night with Grammy and Papa, which made our late night cram packing the Mustang session much easier. But as I was saying, we got up early, finished packing up the car and took off for the Magic Kingdom.

On our way in to the park I looked down and see something incredible. At least it was to me. Apparently out there, there is another pair of fruitcakes named Trevor and Julie who decided to marry and they commemorated their nuptials with a hexagonal brick outside the entrance to the Magic Kingdom. Naturally I felt compelled to take a picture. Seriously what are the odds that I would just stumble on to it? That pic is a few posts back. You can’t miss it.

We called up Grammy to see if they were up and about. It turned out that they weren’t. So Trevor and I took this time to indulge in the rides by our selves. First we decided to get fast passes for Space Mountain so when Emily comes into the park she can have something to ride. Then we rode it. Then we headed over to the Tea Cups on our way through Fantasyland. On our way to Frontierland we rode the newly revamped Haunted Mansion. The improvements were great. And I made sure to keep an eye out for the hidden Mickey in the dining room. Thunder Mountain was fun as always. Then it was time for me to have my final Pirate fix. It’s not my fault that the Cap’n Jack anamatronic is really hot. We glanced at the time and saw that our window had opened up to get more fast passes so we headed back to Tomorrowland to get passes for Buzz Lightyear. However this time the machine was on to us and would not allow a fast pass for Emliy’s ticket since she had not yet entered the park. Oh well. Instead we rode the ride, once again that punk Trevor out scoring me. And since the line for the Indy Speedway was really short we rode that. Unfortunately for me I was riding in the car directly in front of Trevor. He thought that it would be a hoot to rear-end me at the end of our ride. Of course I would have done the same to him had I been behind him. Then we rode the Tomorrowland Transit Authority (sorry to me it’s still the lame yet catchy named People Mover). By then we got a phone call that the rest of the tribe had arrived. So ended the fun of the childless adults.

We met Aunt Mikie with Michael and Emily near Cinderella’s Castle in a shady spot. Then we went to the front to pick up the child and David and brought them back to the meeting spot. We had yet more reservations. This time it was lunch at Cinderella’s Royal Table. When you eat there at breakfast or lunch you get an included photo package based on the size of your group. We had a large group. While we waited for our name to be called, Emily and Trevor went to make a crown at the nearby Princess shop. I was surprised that she chose a blue crown with blue stones and blue veil. But she told me this was due to the fact that we were eating at Cinderella’s Castle and Cinderella’s gown was blue. Ah. Then the child disappeared into the same shop with Uncle David and came out with an Ariel wedding dress and matching gloves.

On our way inside we stopped for that photo with Cinderella. If you go please don’t forget to look around because Jaq and Gus are up on a high ledge looking down on you as you meet Cinderella. As we were seated Emily was given a special wand and a wishing star. Boys dragged along are given swords. Then we climbed up this awesome spiral staircase to the dining room. The food was okay. However the atmosphere was great. All of the princesses came to our tables. *squee* Emily filled up the remaining pages of her autograph book. Now we’ll have to buy her a new one the next time we go down there. Oh well. We don’t mind spoiling her. Right before we left the room dimmed and all of the children we asked to wave their wands or swords and hold their wishing stars tight. The room twinkled. Very cool. Oh holy crap, I would have died had I eaten there as a child. And I wanted to. Every time it was near dinner and were at the Magic Kingdom I would beg my father to let us eat there and every time he told me no. I did finally eat there and it was worth it.

After lunch we split up again. The three of us went to ride a couple more rides, namely The Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. It had the longest wait of anything we stood in line for. It was cute though. I liked Turtle Talk with Crush much better but the idea was the same. Then it was time to go on Philharmagic since we had gotten fast passes for it as we left the restaurant. At that point we had yet to get Emily’s Mickey Ears for the trip. And the pair she wanted was the pair that was blue and silver and said “Where Dreams Come True”. The ears were also full of LED lights and flickered and of course she had them personalized.

It was about three thirty or so by then so we decide to take the ferry over to the Wilderness Lodge where Mikie was staying. If you’re ever able to go to Disney at Christmas and can afford to go in style everyone and myself included recommend to staying there. Superbly decorated and very posh yet pretending to be rustic. Since we could not get reservations to eat at the restaurant there, we spread out at the lounge and ordered room service. We hung out there for a little while and took the shuttle bus to MGM. Everyone came along. Emily wore her new Ariel gown and her sparkling ears. On the bus I kept thinking that there was a cop car pacing us but it was just Emily’s ears. Once we got inside MGM, our main objective was to watch Fantasmic! which we did. And it was better than it was at Disneyland. It was in an arena and the view of live action Kingdom Hearts was awesome. I won’t spoil it for you but you have to see this show if you go to MGM. After the show we tried to ride Rock’N Roller Coaster again but the line was closed. Oh well, there is always next time. We did however ride the Great Movie Ride which was a good idea since I hear the ride is going to be gutted for something new. After that it was over.

Our trip was at an end.

Nothing else to report other than we visited some of my side of the family, which was nice. So there you have it. The final piece to the Mother of all Christmases (and possibly my lj posts).

There I finally finished it. Sure it was four months late, but I did crank it out in a day once I set my mind to it.

holiday, disney, vacation, family
