(no subject)
i went to bed at 10 pm last night, which is super early for me, particularly since i'm not sick. the day just wore me out mentally. we all have days like those. when i woke up today, my brain tried to rehash yesterday, but i said, "no brain, we're not doing that. yesterday was yesterday. today is today. let's make today really awesome!" and that seems to be working.
it helps that my thursday clients are very good at walking the personal/professional line with me. they treat me like family, but understand i am still working, and that involves professionalism and trust. plus they gave me presents! a handmade bag from india, which is nice, and a beautiful handwoven scarf from the MOMA in NYC. it's this cream color with gold interlaced and it actually compliments my skin tone, which most whites never do. i think it will play a color palate roll in my wedding!
today is working hard but with confidence, which is what i needed after yesterday.
tonight or tomorrow night will be Dinner & A Movie night. i'm trying to keep us from eating out more than once a week, since that's one of the household's biggest money sinks. i figure, if it feels like a date night, the specialness of the dinner will linger; eating out needs to feel special, otherwise the casualness becomes the norm.
it occurred to me yesterday that i have a very modern looking waist cincher packed away somewhere. i want a dark garden one but can't justify $200+ right now, and that was the only price i saw on their website. the one i already have should be good for steampunkery, which i am still hoping to work on this spring.
