not only am i surviving this week, i am owning it. not pwning - there's nothing epic about the amount of work i'm doing - but owning nonetheless. thinking of sewing and editing as stand-alone, daily projects helps; putting them on my calendar as events that must happen really helps. only things that truly must get done go on my calendar.
review!
1. work is going well. my clients have all been understanding of my very busy schedule, and they are wrapped up in their own stuff as well. this week didn't swamp me, work-wise, although i am worried about surviving christmas when my checks probably won't arrive 'til after we get back.
2. editing is going smoothly. i have successfully edited one chapter every evening. if i stay on track and do one tonight and one tomorrow night, i will only have 6 chapters to edit on sunday. that's 22 pages, which is a lot all at once, but i'll have the whole day. if i feel up to it, i might take on extra chapters tonight or tomorrow, but i still have sewing to finish.
3. sewing! sewing is going well. my skirt is finished, except for the fasteners, which i'm doing friday with all the other fiddlybit work. it drapes over the hoops nicely without being taut, and the extra pleat in the back gives it some flair without looking bustled. danny's vest is almost finished - that's my least favorite result, but hey, it was my first time sewing a vest - and i need to side stitch and iron it. i made my bonnet last night and i'm quite proud of it, even if i'm not 100% sure i went with the right color. tonight i am sewing my zouave jacket; i finally heard back from the pattern creator and i've resolved the funky hemline issue that held me up. everything is cut and ready to go, i just need to sew it. i may need to stop at the store again for more trim... friday night is set aside for all the final touches - extra trim, lace, ribbons, decorating my basket, button holes, fasteners, collars, etc.
now it's time to work!
